Hot flashes are the most common symptoms of menopause. When you have hot flashes, you feel heat is radiating from your body and experience profound sweating, as all the blood rushes to your skin.
To reduce their frequency, it is important that you drink lots of water and stay dehydrated. Drinking at least 8 to 10 glass of water daily reduces these flashes to a considerable extent and also helps in cleansing your system.
Try to stay as light as you can, during menopause. Wearing light clothes and natural fibers ensures that your body gets enough space to breathe. You can also carry a hand fan with you to cool down your hot flashes.
Taking two teaspoons of the extract prepared from berries of the chaste tree can be helpful in restoring the levels of progesterone hormone in your body.
It is also helpful in controlling heavy bleeding, depression and hot flashes.
You can take a tepid bath for 20 to 25 minutes in the morning, to keep hot flashes at bay.
Flaxseeds contain phyto-estrogens, which makes them very useful for controlling the menopausal symptoms.
These phytoestrogens help in covering up for the hormone estrogen, which decreases significantly during menopause resulting into several symptoms. You can consume flaxseeds by grinding them and adding them to your yoghurt or cereal.
Eating at least 200 to 250 grams of bean curd daily can give you the required phyto-estrogens that can control the intensity of menopausal symptoms. These phyto-estrogens are quite similar in properties to female estrogens and so they can help in easing the symptoms of menopause. They are especially beneficial for controlling vaginal dryness and hot flashes during menopause.
Take three doses of evening primrose oil in a day to help reducethe intensity of menopausal symptoms. One single dose should be of 800 mg for best results.
Some natural tinctures can be very useful in reducing the severity of menopausal symptoms. You will get relief immediately.
Take ¾ ounces of shaved beeswax and 24 drops of rose geranium oil and heat them together, till they melt. In another container, heat one cup distilled water.
Transfer this water into a blender and start the blender. Now, gradually add the melted wax and oil mixture to it, till the entire mixture solidifies. Remove from blender and transfer this cream into an air tight container. Apply this cream on your skin to control the dryness caused due to menopause.
Add two drops of the geranium oil and a 1000IU capsule of Vitamin E, to an ounce of almond oil and mix well. Apply this lotion on the external and internal parts of your vagina, to get rid of vaginal dryness caused due to menopause.
