• The first step is to choose a blush color that matches the skin and for this one should match the color of the cheek just after exercise with the blush. For immediate test, spank the cheek and use the color of the cheek as a guide to pick the blush or match the blush color with the lip. Usually fair skinned people looks nice in rose blush color while olive skinned people prefer peach color and dark skinned people appear great with apricot or red color.
• Next step is to identify the blush type. Oily or combination skinned people looks good with powder type of blush while for dry skin, creamy type is ideal. Oily skin looks nice even with liquid or gel type of blush. For better result one can even combine powder and cream type blushes.
• Before applying blush one should complete the application of foundation, lipstick and even eye makeup and blush should be the last makeup step.
• Most of the blushes available in the market comes with blush brush but are normally of small size. Instead of these brushes use a full and round brush which provides a more softer and professional looks. Avoid the brush that is used to apply the loose powder. Dense brush picks up enough blushes and remains fluffy to deposit the color softly.
• If it’s a powder type of blush, take a small amount of blush on the brush and tap off gently to get rid of the excess blush. If it’s a cream type then take a small quantity on the middle finger.
• Smile while looking in to the mirror which in turn helps to point out the apple of the cheeks. Brush the blush on the apple of the cheek and slowly brush up the cheekbone towards the hairline. Care should be taken to keep the color light and well blended with the skin. For applying the cream or gel type blend the blush with the middle finger and index finger and make dots on the apple of the cheek and slowly blend it with the cheekbone towards the hairline. Blending with a clean finger helps to remove the excess blush.
• Depending upon the shape of the face, blush the face near the hairline for a fuller face while for high cheekbones blush the center of the face to accentuate the bones. In order to avoid the dramatic look use a little brush and blend a small amount of blush down the cheek.
• If the powder blush became heavy then use a little of translucent powder over the blush to calm down its effect. For creamy blush smear the color with a tissue paper but in case of liquid or gel type blush one should wash the face and reapply the entire makeup.In order to finish the makeup provide a gentle sweep of translucent powder over the blush.
