Instructions

  • The first step is to choose the right concealer suited to your complexion and skin type. As a rule, always go in for a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone. This will enable you to better blend it with your skin and hide imperfections effectively. If you have a dry skin, try using cream based moisturizing concealers.
  • Before you begin applying the concealer use a good quality moisturizer on your face. This will create a good base for the concealer application. Once you have moisturized your face, wait for a few minutes before applying the concealer. Use clean fingers, Q-tips, clean brush or a sponge to apply the concealer. Use your finger tips or a clean Q-tip to dab the concealer on the blemishes or acne-scars. Blend the concealer in circular motions so that it matches your skin tone very well.
  • If you are using concealer to hide pigmentation or an uneven skin tone you will need to work with a wider area on your face. This requires meticulous application of the concealer so that you can achieve an even skin tone throughout. To hide pigmentation, apply a small amount of concealer over the entire affected area of the face. Use your finger-tips or a concealer brush for this purpose. Now, blend the concealer very well on the edges of the affected area to match the skin tone of the rest of the face.
  • If you are applying concealer to hide dark circles under the eye you need a slightly different application technique. For dark circles, dab a little concealer on your finger-tips or brush and begin applying it near the corner of your eye. Take the concealer outwards and keep blending well at each stage. Ensure that you do not very harsh strokes while applying concealer under the eyes. The skin under the eyes is very delicate and requires careful handling.
  • Also, do not use too much concealer when you first apply it. Applying too much concealer can make your make-up very artificial and will make it difficult for you to blend the concealer with your foundation or powder. Once you are done with applying concealer, dab some face powder so that the concealer will hold itself well.
