- For making ginger tea you will need some fresh ginger root, water, tea leaves, honey or sugar and some fresh lime. Wash the ginger thoroughly under running water and then scrub it well to remove dirt off it. Peel and slice the ginger into thin long slices. Ideally for making ginger tea you should use fresh ginger root. However in absence of that you can also use ground ginger.
- In a saucepan, boil around four cups of water. Once the water starts boiling, add the ginger slices to the water. Reduce the heat and let the ginger boil in the water for around five to six minutes.
- Add some lime juice to the boiling water and then boil the tea leaves in water. Once the tea leaves have added sufficient favor to the water, strain the tea using a fine mesh strainer.
- Discard the ginger slices and serve the ginger tea after five minutes with an additional drop of lemon and any sweetener such as honey or sugar. You can also add some milk, a pinch of cayenne pepper and some peppermint to the ginger tea for added taste and flavor. Leftover ginger tea can be stored in the refrigerator. This makes an excellent glass of iced tea.
