Choosing a Foundation according to your Skin

Right kind of makeup is essential for having right kind of attention in this ever changing world. Perfect makeup depends upon perfect base. Right selection of foundation for preparing makeup base is very important.

Foundation is applied to prepare a canvas like base to apply color cosmetics. Application of foundation gives a flawless complexion. For preparing a smooth and natural complexion of face, select foundation carefully after getting complete information about kinds of foundations.

For choosing foundation, you have to consider factors like texture of skin, consistency of foundation and the most important is the shade of foundation. However picking a right foundation is quite tricky and daunting task but for that you can have information from this write up and can take help of beauty expert.

How to choose right Foundation:

Before picking a foundation, first consider your skin type. Foundations are available in different formulations according to your skin type. For instance, if you have oily skin then look for oil-free or oil-control formulation. Powder foundations are the best for oily skin. For dry skin, best options are creamy and moisturizing foundations; search for hydrating and moisture rich words. For combination skins, first determine, if you have oilier patches of skin of drier. You can use one, according to your skin. Otherwise light liquid foundations are best with low oil content.

There is a wonderful tip that when you go for buying foundation in the store, go natural without any foundation and makeup over the face. If you go there already wearing foundation, you can never select right shade. Now select a foundation color, closest to your natural skin tone. However yellow-toned foundations appear most natural on all skin tones. On very fair complexions, cooler shades like pink complement well.

After selecting a shade, test it at your lower jawline by applying couple of dots. Some people test it on inner wrist but that is not the right spot for testing foundation shade.

Then take a hand mirror, go near a window for natural light to see which foundation looks the best. Best shade is the one whose mark you cannot recognize due to perfect blending.

A very lighter shade or darker shade will appear too cakey on your skin. Always choose a foundation which is a shade lighter than your natural skin tone.

Another thing is to select foundation with sunscreen properties. You can skip foundation and can opt for tinted moisturizer in place of that. Though it is not recommended to apply foundation daily; instead use of concealer is better for hiding blemishes. It is always not necessary to apply foundation all over the face; instead apply it over around nose, chin and forehead. The key is to blend properly.

How to apply foundation:

To apply foundation, learn about the right way. Take foundation on the palm; apply dots on the cheek, forehead, starting from the centre of the face. Blend it outwards with fingertips or by clean sponge. First remove excess oil from skin by blotting with tissue. Do not rub the skin; it can tear the skin and make it bruised.

Apply foundation over eyelids and lips to prepare base by blending. You can blend foundation with fingertips if you cannot do it otherwise use sponge. Apply it over neckline, earlobes, corner of the eyes and blend it carefully to avoid any uneven tone due to foundation.

Foundation Application tips:

For preparing perfect base for makeup, skillful blending of foundation is must. Blend it properly under the jaw line, in the hairline, over and under eyes. Color at different spots should be same.

For applying cream foundation, use cosmetic sponge for smooth effect.

Use powder foundation for oily skin and apply it as face powder for touching up during the day.

After applying foundation, dust loose powder to set it properly.

If you are not satisfied with application of foundation, you can retouch it with another coat of foundation.

To prevent damage from harmful rays of sun, apply foundation laced with sunscreen agent, at least of SPF 15.

If you have sensitive skin, avoid foundations containing allergic irritants like fragrances, chemical sunscreens, and alpha hydroxyl acid.

Rich, creamy foundations are beneficial for mature, dry skin.
