Blush is the cosmetic which gives warm and soft hue to the face. It provides the face beautiful and fresh look. Effect of blush makeup is the flush of colors when a person blushes. It is the quickest way to give soft hue to the face. Blush is applied after preparing base with the help of foundation and concealer. And also after eye makeup is done.
To have the perfect effect of the blush, the most important thing is to choose the right color for your skin tone. For applying blush, you should select right brush also. A large, round tipped broad brush is perfect for applying blush. It should move freely over the face without making streaks.
Blush is available in different kinds and you should choose type of blush which suits your skin texture, comfort and weather conditions. Blush can be in powder form, liquid form and cream form. When you apply makeup in the morning, it is best to apply cream blush and then later on, retouch it with powder blush during the day. But do not apply power blush then cream blush; it will give blotchy look.
If you have dry skin, do not use powder blush as cream blush is the best. Powder blush is good for oily skin and combination skin. Liquid and gel blush get well with oily skin. These kinds of blushes apply a soft sheen of the color without making the skin oilier. Blending cream blush and powder blush is great option for fine luminosity but this should be done carefully to avoid any error. Another thing to keep in mind is that go for a shade darker for cream blush than that of powder blush as cream blush gets absorbed in the skin and powder blush stays there on upper layer only.
Choosing right blush tone is very vital to have a perfect natural look. For that, just pinch or spank your cheek softly and wait for few minutes until flush of colors come to face. If you have fair skin tone then rose, peach and olive should be right for you and with dark skin tones, red or apricots go well. You can blend two shades to get perfect shade for you. You can complement it with your lip color. The best thing is to have single shade of blush which matches your skin tone and you can wear it any time of the day with any outfit.
Another important tool is right blush brush as told above; discard those little brushes provided with the blush pack. To locate the position to apply blush on the face, look into the mirror and gently smile. This way you can locate apples of your cheeks and this where you should apply blush for a healthy flush.
If you are using powder blush, cover the brush with blush powder and tap off the extra blush. If you are using liquid, gel or cream blush, apply some dots on the cheek using finger. Then using steady and gentle movements of brush blend it with skin and rest of the makeup. Move the brush in one direction only; avoid moving it in circular motion again and again as it will create undesirable streaks.
If you have long and narrow face, you can add width by applying blush horizontally and less color on the lower edge of the cheek bone. For a round or square face, apply blush on the middle of the face but not too close to the nose. Blush should be blended towards the temple and not beyond the corner of eyes. If you want a shimmery look, apply shimmer blush at highest spot on the cheeks in the eyes.
To begin with, always apply less of blush; you can build it up later if desired. If you think you have applied more than required blush, then apply a little translucent powder over it. To lessen the cream blush, wipe it with tissue.
Always keep the blush brush clean otherwise bacteria can germinate in them and transfer to your cheeks. Cream blush is the best type of blush for a dry matured skin as it gets absorbed in the skin and gives natural look.
