With smoky eyes, your lips should have nude effect as face can not carry two heavy looks at a time. It is popular style especially with party hoppers. Getting smoky eyes effect is not at all difficult. You need little knowledge and practice to achieve this.
The most important aspect to get smoky eyes is blending of eye makeup. Makeup colors should be blended perfectly. For smoky eyes, you need to complement light shade eyeshadow with dark colored one. You just need few minutes to follow proper steps to get smoky eyes effect. First of choose the shades you want for your eyes. You can mix deep purple with soft gold shade or peach base with green hue over. There are many such combinations, you can choose from.
To create smoky eyes, you should use eye primer over eyelids to create base. Applying this product is of great worth. It helps the eyeshadow to stay longer at place. But this is not a must; is optional. Other eye makeup products you will need are two shades of eye shadow, light and dark, eyeliner, mascara, eye makeup brushes. Now get ready for applying these makeup products.
First step towards getting smoky eyes look is to prepare a base. As the day passes, eye shadow gets melt and accumulates into crease of eyelids. To prevent this situation to happen, try to have oil-free eye lids. To achieve this, prepare eyeshadow base by using eye primer as told above.
Now after getting the base done, apply eyeliner. As for eyeliner shade is concerned, you can choose, some popular choices like brown, black or gray, for a start. Later on when you get accustomed to this look, you can experiment with unusual shades also. F you have jewel toned eyes, go for purple, green, deep blue or violet eyeliner. Ultimately choose the eyeliner shade according to your whole look and then apply it over the upper eye lash line. Keep this line, thicker in the middle of eyelid.
For lower lashes, you need to have light colored eyeliner. The choice of color for lower lash should be done carefully as it makes great difference. After apply eyeliner, smudge it.
Apply base on the upper eyelids. The base shade should be light. Harmony of light base to dark shade is one of the important aspects for creating perfect smoky eyes. You can use a light colored shimmery eyeshadow or a cream shade. Apply this base shade over whole eyelid up to brow bone. You can dampen the brush to apply it in more effective way.
Using an eyeshadow brush, apply a dark eyeshadow and make sure to keep it below the crease of eyelids. Now, having applied both shades, it is time to blend them for a smoky eye effect. Start blending from the lash line in upward movements. Smudge the eyeliner line so that there is no visible sharp eyeliner line. Stop the dark shade at crease of eyelid.
Finish the look by applying thickening mascara and that too after curling the lashes using an eyelash curler.
First basic rule while applying smoky eyes is to match proper shades of eyeshadow otherwise, you will not get desired result.
Whenever you apply smoky eye makeup, keep your lips nude. You should focus on one feature either eyes or lips but never both. You can not have smoky eyes and red lips at the same time; you will look like a ghost.
To catch the falling eyeshadow particles on cheeks, dust a little translucent powder on cheeks, which you can easily clean later without disturbing the rest of makeup.
You may not need separate eyeliner. You can easily make eyeliner out of your eyeshadow powder. Just get an eyeliner brush and wet it. Now dab it in dark eyeshadow powder and draw a straight line. But one thing is sure; you need eyeliner for a smoky eye makeup.
Concentrate on your eyebrows also, for smoky eye; get them highlighted by applying eyebrow powder.
