Body odor is the term referred to any kind of unpleasant smell associated with an individual’s body. The condition that causes body odor is hyperhidrosis. Perspiration is the part of the cooling process of body. Water on the skin’s surface evaporates and gives a cooling sensation to the body. Perspiration or sweat doesn’t cause odor but the bacteria that gets accumulated on the skin releases unpleasant smelling chemicals. The body odor is strongly associated with the emission from our sweat glands. The armpits and genitals perspire more as compare to any other parts of the body. The use of deodorants worsens the condition as it contains various toxic chemicals and products of heavy metals like aluminium. The sweat glands are responsible for the elimination of toxic matter from the body.
Causes of Body Odor
There are various causes of perspiration and ultimately body odor
Take 500 mg of wheat grass daily on an empty stomach with a glass of water. The chlorophyll in it will reduce the body odor and is natural body odor remedy.
Application of baking soda to the armpits and feet will minimize the body odor and is good home remedy for body odor.
Use alcohol or white vinegar to wash the armpits.
Put some drops of rose water in the bathtub before taking bath. No deodorant is required after the bath. This is a very simple and one of the effective home remedies for body odor.
Apple cider vinegar reduces the pH of the skin and eliminates armpit odor when used in place of deodorant. Good Home Remedy for Body Odor.
Another effective body odor treatment that it’s always better to take 3 showers a day in summers when sweating is more.
Take Juice from about two dozen radishes and add 1/4 teaspoon of glycerine to it and put in a spray-top bottle. Use this as an underarm deodorant. This is also useful home remedy for body odor.
Instead of using deodorant use baby powder or talc in the areas with high perspiration.
Mix some baking soda with lemon juice and rub this mixture on underarms. This is a useful natural remedy for body odor.
Tea tree is an antibacterial herb. Make a deodorant by mixing two drops of the essential oil and one ounce of water.
In 30 mm of water put 10 drops of the essential oil and apply this on the underarms to reduce body odor. This is another effective natural remedy for body odor.
Place some white vinegar on a cotton ball and apply to the underarms. The vinegar smell vanish in minutes and you should be smell-free whole day. This body odor remedy is one of the best home remedies for body odor.
Turnip juice reduces underarm odor for up to 10 hours. Grate a turnip; squeeze the grated pieces and rub the juice on the armpits.
Drinking a cup of sage tea daily will reduce the activity of sweat glands and ultimately will minimize the odor and acts as body odor remedy.
Blend tomato juice with fresh sage leaves and apply on the area for 10 minutes before bathing. This is also a very good body odor treatment.
White vinegar is also helpful. Instead of using deodorant apply white vinegar with a cotton ball on the areas. This will keep the body smell free whole day. It is a one of the best body odor cure.

Very interesting article! For those asking-although I have not tried all of the remedies suggested here, I do have to say that straight tea tree oil directly applied to the armpit for strong odor or, for leaser ordor a mixture of witch hazel and tea tree oil works great! You can find tea tree oil inexpensively at pharmacies or even Walmart in the herbal section. Just remember a little tea tree oil goes a long way ;)

I persperate very heavily under my armpits just by sitting in class, and it's such a pain in the neck trying to hide it throughout the day. Thankfully it doesn't smell though! I've tried the clinical strength deodorant and it doesn't make much of a difference for me. It's not like I'm overweight and get sweaty and out of breath easily. I do smoke though, do you think that maybe that has something to do with it? What can I do to stop the niagara falls?
#6 - Eliza - 10/14/2008 - 11:57

HELP ME!! Im desperate!

I don't know how to stop sweating, there are over the counter drops that you can put under your arms at night the wash off the next day. Ask your doctor, this reduces it and it only needs to be used a couple times a week. Also, wear antipersperant during the day.
For odour, if you want to get rid of the smell throughout the day, bring a couple cotton balls and rubbing alcohol in a very small container. Dab your underarms with the alcohol and it kills the bacteria and reduces or kills the smell. If you don't carry a purse, snag a vinegar packet from the cafeteria and use that instead of alcohol.

Shower with anti-bacterial body foam and apply pure aloe vera gel to the armpits. This is the simplest of way of reducing armpit odor.

#16 - caribbean woman - 03/27/2009 - 11:18
you can soak in the bath with black tea.. take about 6 tea bags and let them do their thing in the bath(make sure it is on the hot side when starting out).. squeeze them here and there to make sure they are getting all the stuff out. this works wonders on feet too. this helps with odors not on the sweating though. also helps on face
#17 - ~P - 04/09/2009 - 01:14
To those with body odor..i too have and and still in the process of finding the right one to stop sweating.
First wash the armpit of your clothes well with soap..or soak it first in detergent powder then wash well..because the bacteria can still be there.
While armpit is damp after shower..rub baking soda.
And avoid using deodorants with perfume. Use nonperfumed deodorant or the unscented one. Mitchum unscented works well though it darkens the skin a bit
#18 - in search - 04/12/2009 - 09:26
guys use DRICLOR it can be bought at your local drug store. very good for stopping the sweating and the odor bu tit can darken the skin a bit. hope this helps.

To anyone who knows how to make a webpage..pls make one and include my suggestion . I have suffered body odor for years even when I was younger..and I read somewhere, people loosing jobs..unable to have friends and even commit suicide. I pity and feel sorry for them though I have suffered a lot of humiliation too thats why I want to help.
Anyway.... my advices are:
1.stay away from spices and food that contribute to body odor. Have a healthy diet like fruits and veggies and lots of water.
2. When you take a bath, lather your loofa or towelette with a good bacterial soap and scrub well your armpits to get left over deodorant..sweat and bacteria.
3. Wash your shirts os clothes well. Concentrate on the armpit. You acn soak it first in dtergebt powder and wash. I emphasize handwashing the armpit area. Because if the armpit area is not washed well...it can lead to body odor.
REMEDIES I'VE TRIED THAT WORKED WELL:
1. After bath wet your armpits and scrub baking soda. This works well. it doesn't stop the sweating but you won't smell.
2. You could also try putting Listerine on your armpit as substitute for deodorant. Put some on a cotton ball and scrub.
3. As substitute for deodorant.. you can use GIN ....yes... an alcoholc drink as deodorant. The scent is only temporary . I read somewhere that Vodka can be used as well but I perspire after I tried it though i didn't smell. These is what I use now and what I intend to use forever. Its amazing.
These three works well...its up to you to choose what works for you.
By the way keep a stock to carry with you at work or school in case you wann freshen up. But these remedies work for greater than 12 hours. So I suggest have a stock in your bag just in case you need to reapply.
I was in search and now I found the answer to my problem. I praise God!I hope these help a lot of people .
Please if any of these work...lets help other people know it. Body odor can really ruin one's life and esteem. We need to help others too.
#20 - in search - 04/14/2009 - 10:25
For those who really want to use a deodorant instead of what I suggested..try Mitchum unscented. It works well it won't give you that Body odor but make sure to wash your clothes well in the armpit area since deodorants sticks or dries in that part and if not washed well, will lead to body odor. Why? Because the sweat and Bacteria is still there.
Anyway..if you really insist on using a deodorant.. USE UNSCENTED. Ihave tried a lot of deodorants before almost all in the market just to find what suites me.And the UNSCENTED TYPE WORKS WELL.
But I suggest to try my 3 suggestion on top.

Hydrogen Peroxide worked for me. I poured Hydrogen peroxide on all of my shirts (armpit part) that stinked then also applied hydrogen peroxide on my armpits and let it dry. The bacteria must be eliminated in both shirt and armpit. It will only become a cycle if both weren't remedied by the hydrogen peroxide.

#35 - claire - 09/03/2009 - 12:25
Please check the products that you're using as I had to switch to a natural deodorant because the aluminum in regular deodorant was irritating my underarms causing more problems. I had terrible underarm odor but got rid of it by soaking a cotton ball in Listerine and then wiping my underarms. I also took a detox bath with epsom salt, apple cider vinegar, and baking soda for 20 minutes which helped too. Many recipes are on the internet for detox baths. I rarely have any odor now and have been able to go without deodorant, have actually forgotten to put it on when I'm rushing.

I have battled b.o. for years. The worst part is that I can't smell it until its VERY bad to others. To make matters worse, I'm a nurse!! I hear half-whispered comments all the time about baths, deodorants, etc. People have started sniffing when they are around me (I guess to hint to me). My husband says that he only notices a little more of a smell than on anyone else and only sometimes. It's still a work in progress, but here are some things that helped me make it better.
I have found that using liquid soap with chlorohexidine in it helps alot.
I use alum free deodorant (Kiss my face, Tom's, crystal rock, etc.) on daily basis.
I freshen up armpits during day with small alcohol wipes.
I use certain-dri every 3 or so days to control sweating.
I take chlorophyll supplements with meals.
Things I want to try in near future:

I have had bad under arm odor ever since I had kids. I am also a very clean person and can smell it even immediately after showering. I have used rubbing alcohol which helps a little bit, but I work out a lot and want to wear tank tops and the odor is worse when I don't have material between my arm and armpit. I was spinning and someone went to take the bike next to me and then moved. I know it was because of me and I am horrified. I'm going to try some of these other remedies, but I would love to know which is best. It's probably individualized. I'm recently divorced and dating again and I am very conciencious of the odor when being intimate. HELP!!!!

SOLUTION GUYS. I also have that problem. My armpit sweat and smells. I tried all sorts of deodorants in the market but hey they let me down. I tried DRICLOR. I guaranteed that it's very effective. Just use once or twice you will instantly see the difference. You can also use this in other parts of your body that sweats too much. And yes, you can feel it dry, very dry after use. It's a bit expensive about P800.00. But it's really worth it. You can buy it at any mercury or any drugstore. My derma doctor highly recommended it as well. Try it guys m sure it can give back the confidence we all want.>-(

Update. I have started taking a multivitamin that inlcudes zinc. I am taking a probiotic tablet once a day as well.
My dermatologist recently prescribed gentamicin cream to be appled tyo my underarms daily. The cream is not homemade or natural, obviously, but it WORKS BETTER than ANYTHING else I have tried!! I apply certain dri (very potent over the counter anti-perspsirant) every 3 days too. I can work 12hr shifts on my feet and still be as fresh as I have been in years! I LOVE IT. I have noticied a significant decrease in the whispers and sniffs!
It kills the bacteria that feed on the sweat and make the odor. Ask you dermatologist about it!!!
#42 - Wonderwoman - 11/28/2009 - 02:14
Hey there! I am a person who suffers from B.O, but not as bad as other people - lucky me. But I am always afraid it will continue to get worse. I am only 13, you know, but I hate body odour. It usually effects my underarms the most, and even my chest. I am still looking for something that will be effective enough, but here are some pieces of advice I already have. :-)
Deoderant: You don't want to purchase a deoderant filled with chemicals and metals...Look for a natural, organic deoderant with no metals, glycols or parabens. Sometimes there will be other ingredients that look funny to you. To be sure, look them up on the computer, because there are alot of other ones that are contained in deoderants. Better to be safe than sorry! And second of all, some people will tell you that anti-persperants are perfectly safe. I personally would not believe them, they don't know what they're talking about. Some effective natural deoderants I've heard of (which I haven't unfortunately tried yet...) are Burts Bees Herbal Deoderant; which is heavy on sage oil - http://www.burtsbees.ca/product-line/outdoor/herbal-deodorant.html - As with every other deoderant, shower or bath, cleansing the underarm area, before applying. If you use deoderant on dirty underarms then the scent of the deoderant will only make your B.O worse.
I've heard good things about Dr. Hauschka deoderants (https://store.drhauschka.com/). For girls, I personally would suggest the Floral deoderant, but the Fresh would work well too. Dr. Hauschka deoderant is pretty expensive, though. If you feel it is too over-priced for you, another option is Aubrey Organics. (www.aubreyorganics.com) I am going to get the E Plus High C Roll-On Deoderant. It is 100% natural! And all of the reviews on the site have reviews that say it is an exellent deoderant. There are other ones though, so be sure to go to their website!
Weleda is another good brand. http://use.weleda.com/
They have Sage deoderant, Citrus, and Wild Rose.
A natural remedy I made up myself is by getting a tupperware sandwich container and filling it with tepid water, then adding 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil and 1 drop of tea tree essential oil. The tea tree oil is optional, but using it is a good idea. Stir the water and essential oils, then add a small, dry, and clean wash cloth and soak in the herbal remedy for about 2-3 hours. In the shower, apply to the underarms and other desired areas such as the chest and back. Rinse off with cool or medium-temp. water. Hot water increases the body's temperature and encourages it to cool itself down by persperating. This home remedy I find works well for me.
B.O isn't caused by the persperation itself, but the bacteria that it feeds on.
Hope this advice helps!

if you really have strong body odor it may be that your skin or organs have absorbed chemicals from the environment, deodorant or scents from certain foods.. you need to change your diet and cleanse your body.. i found this great complete body purifier. called Ulta D 1-888 490-7300...this place also has a cleansing soap worth using. also you need to take 2,000 mg of milk thistle to cleanse your liver daily.. plus drink lots of water.. eliminate any foods that might create a foul smell... drink plenty herbal tea.. and see a naturopathic doctor if necessary..
#49 - leroy - 01/07/2010 - 23:36
you also need to take a wash cloth with soap to go over your skin in the shower and take baths in epsom salt .. don't give up.. also mold in your living environment can cause odor. your liver can absorb the mold.. make sure there isn't mold in the walls, the vents, etc.

Did you ever find your answer? I have the same problem. No matter how often I wash, I just NEVER feel fresh.
#53 - no name - 01/18/2010 - 05:07
Have any of you that have the bad body odor had a complete vitamin/mineral test to see if you are missing some nutrients. There is one of the minerals that if it is to low it can cause odor.
I had a friend that had terrible odor that was because of her gut. She had to take probiotics to correct it.
Sometimes people that have an undiagnosed medical problem have trouble with odor - especially immune system problems.
If you are in so much distress (especially the teens) please see a doctor for a medical checkup as well as trying the vinegar/baking soda/listerine remedies.
At night after a good shower using Cetaphill Body Wash use a spray bottle with 1/2 vinegar/1/2 water to spray any area that usually has odor. Let it dry naturally and the vinegar smell will go away in a few minutes. Next morning use a cotton ball, pad or cloth with straight vinegar on it to wipe area that usually has odor and let it dry naturally. If you are nervous about it not working during the day take a very small plastic bottle with screw on lid (you can buy this at a dollar store or Walmart) with you when you leave home and go to the restroom during the day and use your fingers to rub it on the area that normally has odor during the day. After a few days you should see what works for you.
Make sure you stay away from junk foods, sodas and sugar and eat lots of veggies, fruits, juices and 64 ounces of water daily. (3 Twenty ounce bottles of water daily will do it) Make sure you are getting enough vitamins/minerals/calcium daily. See the www.fda.gov website for help on what you need daily as well as diets and weight charts.

I shower twice a day and I don't sweat a whole lot, and only when i'm nervous or excited...the problem is the B.O. I have to go to school almost everyday using another crappy deoderant that only mixes with the smell and I smell worse. I tried almost all the clinical strength deoderant/antiperspirants and they don't work for me!I still sweat when I use them even though I don't sweat much anyway, and I've tried unscented versions too and they don't help with the smell either!:-
#56 - janet - 02/02/2010 - 22:58
The apple cider vinegar does work! I've been taking cotton pads and dabbing my pits, let it stay on a minute or so and then wash off with distilled water (been thinking my water is different due to pipes being replaced in my neighborhood). Anyway, the vinegar has gotten rid of the stinky smell. Only drawback is that the vinegar stings but it's worth it!
#57 - Val - 02/19/2010 - 09:51
PS: I tried the Dry Idea "Clinical Strength" antiper/deo and it does Not work! Seemed to make the sweating even worse. What's odd is that I've always bragged to people that I don't sweat and in the last couple of weeks have sweated and stunk more than any time in my life! So aggravating!

I used to have a problem with body odor every day, now I don't! I tried to figure out what was making me smell, then went from there. I can't eat garlic. Even a little makes me smell. Doesn't even make me have a garlic smell. It's more of a "some other" kind of smell, that I can't explain. Same with fried foods. ALL regular deodorants make me smell (must be a chemical they all use that reacts with my body). I only use Terra Naturals Deodorant unscented or scented naturally, and is the only brand I found to work. Check the internet since I haven't found this product in stores. I also spray The Body Crystal Liquid deodorant in my shoes (some shoes/socks make my feet smell and is absorbed into your body which comes out your pores and other places). Liquid crystal deodorant stopped this smell. Food, pills, vitamins, drinks, dyes and chemicals used in certain clothing, nylons, socks, shoes, personal grooming products, perfume (even breathing in someone else's perfume) etc, can cause you to smell too. You have to use these things, so experiment to see what helps. Honestly, I kept trying regular deodorants forever, buying every one, stonger, gentler, women's, men's, etc., none helped. It wasn't until I went to the natural ones, that I found the smell go away. I did a search on the internet one day "deodorants make me smell" and saw one hit from a gal that said her body chemistry reacted with normal deodorant. I changed to natural ones, and kept trying to find one that worked. Really watch what you're eating and keep a log/diary to see if there is one thing that's making you smell weird. If it's an every day smell thing, try changing your daily grooming products. Some lotions, shampoo and conditioners with lots of oils, cosmetics (make-up) can cause body order in me (even natural ones). What makes one person smell, may not make another one smell. Remember, everything you eat and put on you is absorbed into your body and comes out in your sweat, good or bad. Really look at what you eat, drink, put on you, etc. and see what you can come up with. Other ideas, soak in a tub with epsom salt or sea salt. Personal products I use now are Dove soap (unscented), Suave shampoo & conditioner. Caress soap (if you want scent), pure mineral oil instead of lotion (cheap and a little goes a LONG way), Terra Naturals deodorant, Liquid Crystal deodorant spray in my shoes, sometimes plain yogurt on a mini pad (absorbes into your body and fights odor all through your body), brush your tongue when you brush your teeth. Dry brush or use a loofa on your body before showering once a week. Just some ideas that worked for me. I very, very rarely have an odor problem any more. Maybe once every couple of months, and it's to usually something I ate (chicken strips and fries, yum). Hopefully, one or more of these ideas will work for all of you. Keep posting ideas, what works for one person may not work for another, so the more info out there, the better. Even if it sounds weird, it may just be that one thing that works for someone else! Good luck and blessings to everyone!

Thank you for this website. I have suffered with horrible body odor for the past 25 years. I too, have felt the shame of being made fun of, called dirty and stinky. Nobody wants to work with me. Wherever I go, it is whispered about how bad I smell. I wanted to commit suicide. The shame is so huge but this website has given me the strength to try again. I have had doctors laugh at me. I do not go out I am too afraid to go to a concert because I have to be close to people. I will try these remedies and once again, thank you. I now know that I am not alone and will try again.

the best solution is lime fruit. slice a lime fruit into two and rub under the armpits, you will notice a change in a week.this is what the people who work in mortuaries or with corpses use to rid themselves of the bad smell so i am sure it works.

For those who have bad breath and B.O. I can tell you that I had this problem for years untill I cut gluten (i.e wheat) out of my diet. My breath and B.O. were so offensive that people had a hard time talking to me. Deordarant and gum did nothing to stop the smell. Once I eliminated gluten it took about 2 weeks for my symptoms to dissapear. You may find that a gluten free lifestyle is a chalange. But for me it's the only thing that helped. I also had other benifits from going gluten free. I was no longer tiered and yawning all day long and plus I lost a little bit of weight (I was 125 pounds and have been 110 pounds ever since). I truely hope that shareing my expirence will help someone out there. If you want to try going gluten free I suggest rice pasta, potatoes, and gluten free bread to help substitute for wheat foods. God bless

i suffered from sweaty armpit my whole life & am grateful to know i'm not alone now. i've used counless deodorant/spray n roll on n none really work to stop the sweat from flowing. since i tried forever living pdeodorant, sweat still happens but Bo is gone. it's sfae to use & grateful it's more gentle than others. i work in medical profession & has been wondering if there ever going to be cure for this problem. surgery is not the best option as my friend had it done and she regretted ittill now b'cos of the' compensation' mechanism 'that happens postop when the other body part took over and she suffered more embarrasment now.

Its always the hygiene that tops a person's priority. I suggest u to shave away the armpit hair(trim the groin area too). Cos these r the culprit for bad odour. Make sure u shave them once a week.
And have bath with mixture atleaste once a week.
Mixture: 3 portions of neem powder, 1 portion of turmeric and 1 portion of salt.
And finally drink atleaste 8 glasses of water(to rule out constipation).
For daily use any talcum powder in the armpits and groin area.

Using lime or lemon and baking powder under the arm before and even during you take a bath works vey well. Also shaving your armpits/pubic area will greatly reduce and even eliminate the bad odors.....

My daughter is 8 yrs old & yet she smells bad. I don't know if it has something to do w/ her playing my deodorant one time as told by my nanny. She sweats a lot, in fact since she started preschool she's always noticed because always she's bathing in sweat. I don't know why she's like that but the problem arouse when she entered 2nd grade, she smells! I just don't know the reason for this, particularly that I bathe her everyday, when she comes home from school for lunch, I also cleaned her armpit w/ soap & water. But still an hour later she just smell. I don't know what to do, please help me, my child is still a little girl, quite unusual for her age to smell. So please help me.

Certain Dri & Dri Idea Work!!!
I know how bad it is to suffer from excessive underarm sweating and odor. I have tried every remedy and deodoran. Until recently nothing had worked!!
I been using Certain Dri (purchased at CVS) for about a month now and it works!! I use to sweat so much, i would wipe my underarms with a towell and it would be drenched in sweat! Certain Dri works! also prevents the odor that comes along with the sweating. I purchased the roll on unscented, on the box it says it works for 72 hours but you must apply before bed time and it works like magic and continues to work for as long as you keep using it. There are days when im so stressed or feeling nervous over something and those are the days i sweat the most But ever since using Certain Dri i dont sweat at all, not even a drop of sweat comes out and my underarms are odorfree now (i even had my boyfriend smell my underarms just to be sure my mind was not playing tricks on me). In the morning i also apply Dri Idea invisible solid unscented (always use unscented) also purchased at CVS, it prevents & stops the sweating and also the odor, works like magic!! I must say i can now raise my arms and wear any color shirt and style without having to worry about my underarm sweat and odor. ;-)
Hope this helps.

I have this same problem. It is so annoying. It effects everything that I do. I wish that I could just wake up and dress in anything I wanted such as sleeveless tops and little T-strapped sundresses. However, I have a million of cut up t-shirts that I wear to prevent the odor from absorbing into my clothes. I have tried every deoderant on the market. Now I have resulted to using natural products. So far, I have tried rubbing lemon under my arms. It works with the odor and slightly with the sweating. I think if I add baking soda in conjuction with the lemon than it may help a little better. Next, I plan to try drinking sage tea daily and using the apple cidar vinegar. Under arm odor has been an issue for me since puberty hit. I'm tired of it. I believe this is the reason I'm still single, because of smelly arms. lol
#81 - Tb - 06/01/2010 - 10:37
I thought I was the only one out there with this devastating problem! I hate clothes shopping because I can only wear certain shirts (that don't show a drop of sweat). I'd love to wear purple, pink, red, orange, etc. instead of black, or busy plaid or stripe stuff. Maybe one day.
#82 - et - 06/16/2010 - 22:46
I use to have the same armpit odor just like everyone else describes. I have been using white vinegar under my arms everyday for about a year now and it has been a miracle. You will notice a real difference almost instantly, the bad odor caused by the bacteria is killed by the acidity from the vinegar. Dab it onto a cotton ball, then wipe your armpit clean with it. Leave on for about 2 minutes, then wash away in the shower. I do this every morning before work. Even though I no longer have the bad odor problem I still do this every morning, religiously, to prevent the odor from returning. If you use deodorant or anti-perspirant, best to use a hypoallergenic deodorant where it's mild and doesn't harm the Ph level too much. Try this! It worked for me. Goodluck!
#83 - Lynn - 06/25/2010 - 22:31
The white vinegar works great! I am a smoker and I occassionally like to drink. I know that these things along with poor diet is the culprit to my bacterial odor problem. Recently, I heard about using white vinegar for eliminating odor from a good friend of mine. I tried it and I was so amazed. I also use it on other odor smelling parts of my body and I tell you it has been a life saver for me in my relationship and socially. It's also a very inexpensive home-remedy. No need to waste a lot of time looking for and buying a bunch of different herbs or ingredients. Almost everyone already has this in their home for cooking or cleaning. I buy the big gallon size, then I simply pour some in a small spray bottle for personal use. Then I spray on cotton balls or a damp wash cloth, then wipe it all over the odorous parts of my body. I leave it on to dry for a few minutes, then hop into the shower. A very powerful and inexpensive cure odors. I strongly recommend this to anyone who has odorous problems. It will make you more confident! ;-)

my solution is a mineral salt deodarant. Name .smelly no more.. It is good and also keep u fresh even after sports. But its effect is only around 30hours . Really feel like getting all this bad odour bacteria away once and for all. Hope the white vinegar helps .

It's simple! Women, ever heard of "Douche"? Have you seen the ingredients in a douche bottle? Vinegar or Baking Soda. If Douche helps with [@]l odor, then why not copy the same ingredients and use in other parts of your body...makes sense?! I personally use the vinegar because it's seems to work stronger than the baking soda.

It’s really annoying and embarrassing as many people said. I haven’t been sweating like this before, never at all other than I exercise, but now I don’t know what the hell happened to my body it started sweating like anything and obviously smelling very badly. Can someone plz tell me why and how I can get rid of it? I just moved to a different country that’s when it started to sweat and smell will this be the reason?
Hoping to keep my body pleasant, help me..!!!

My b.o. is very bad because of my excessive sweating and I got sweaty palms it is bad to the point I have noticed even the things I hold for example my pouch will start to smell after some time, I am not sure what is wrong, but recently I have tried something which works rather well maybe you guys can try I try to use more of the liquid body soap and lather up as much as possible, now the body odour is decrease tremendously and I had used all kind of soap I am currently using neutrogena rainbath shower gel which is great....
#88 - kenakaren - 07/15/2010 - 12:12
you have to try baking soda and hydrogen peroxide!!! mix both in a old face cream jar. I don't measure the ingredients I jsut pour enough of each one to make a paste. I use after shower, let dry. It was an aswered prayer for me.
got the remedy here in this site abt 2 yrs ago, havent used deo. since.

I've tried Botox injections, but learned that it primarily helps with perspiration, not odor. I'm trying the vinegar and tea tree oil remedies currently for the odor, but for those of you with wetness issues, try talking to a dermatologist about Botox injections in your armpits.

I have heard it could be some sort of yeast infection within our body system that is causing bad odour that can be cured try search on it 'systemic candida' it's curable but really tough

I have a pretty bad case of it too but a long time ago I found a home remedy that worked awesome, all day till I showered and then i reapplied. The prob is i've finished the batch i made and now cant rememberthe ingredients. I was hoping maybe someone can help me out if they've found it. The ingredients included white vinegar, rose water, baking soda, sugar, and I think a hint of coconut juice. These are the ingredients I now use and its almost just as good. So heres how i do it, after i shower I apply the paste and try exfoliating it in. the sugar helps a lot for that. after i let it sit for a couple minutes. the worse the odor the longer to leave it on. Then take cold wet cloth and wipe off. Works great for me. the more you use this remedy the more you skin will react so dont giv up hope :-P

As someone who has suffered from hyperhidrosis I know exactly how you all feel! I'm 20 now but have noticed I smell since about the age of 12/13.
The biggest part for me was the embarassment of actually telling someone about it - the doctor, in my case - when I was 16 years old. Remember the doctors are there to help and I'm so glad I went as she told me about 1 in 10 people suffer from the same condition! It's completely normal and not your fault! The doctor gave me a chemical deodrant (the powder one didn't work for me) and I use it the night before a big or main event. What's strange is that since I told my doctor, and eventually my Mum and boyfriend, the condition got so much better! I swear I was sweating so much for the fear that people would see it...!
The main point of me writing all this is for Cat, above - tell your Mum about it, she would definatley help (my Mum was so lovely and didn't bat an eyelid). Your Mum loves you and wants to protect you, she ouldn't want to see you with such low self esteem, something I suffered from for years before a diagnosis of hyperhidrosis.
Good luck, and let me know how you got on!

Hi guys, I just want to share the solution I found for my body odor. I think I started having this awful odor in my underarms when I was in high school. It was so embarrassing and didn't enjoy my teenage life. I always stay at home because I'm always afraid that my friends would smell me. It was terrible and I tried different ways to solve it but nothing worked. I took a bath 3 times a day but just after a minute out of shower my underarms would stink. my clothes smelled bad. I really prayed that God would heal me and he answered my prayer. What I did was, I bought a bottle of Active charcoal. Here in the Philippines you can buy it for 3.47. It contains 50 capsules. I take it after lunch and dinner. when I shower I use a loofah in my underarms but I only scrub lightly. after shower I pat baking soda on it. on the first day i did it it worked immediately. I've been doing this for 2 weeks now and I always smell good. the temperature here is always 35 degrees and I always sweat but I don't worry anymore because I don't smell bad. I'm so happy that I can do anything I want now. I washed my clothes with baking soda too, I mix it with the detergent. It was effective. I also tried rubbing allum on the armpit of my clothes and it was effective too. Now all my clothes don't smell bad anymore. I also had the [@]l smell but it was gone since I started taking active charcoal. I hope these solutions can help you too. don't give up.

Good luck everyone. I'm going to try all of these too. I've heard the more vegetables & fruit you eat the better you'll smell. It's supposed to be the chlorophyll. It might not work for everyone. Healthy people stink less, so get a good check up, exercise, eat healthy, cleanse the toxins from your organs, get plenty of rest, practice stress relief, and try everything for body odor you can find! Some people will not find help. That's just life. If you have children or plan to, make sure you raise them to be kind and not judge others. Besides, if you go to other countries, everyone stinks! Odor is natural and we all need to get over it. Maybe some people have "oversensitive" noses. They are the ones who need to change their sense of smell.

ok i have read wot all of u have to say. for those of u who really have this problem, trust me, been there myself - travelled d path.
without taking much of ur time let me share with u wot i use and believe me its very effective a 101%.
i dont worry about the odor anymore b'cos this method takes care of the problem.
just get a very good antiseptic disinfectant - for me i use Dettol. however i have not tried any other type so i cant tell 4sure hw effective they might b.
get an empty bottle of roll-on that u can atleast easily take off its roller cap.
for measurement i use the cap of the disinfectant. pour two of it(filled to the brim of the cap). dilute same quantity of water.
lastly replace roll-on cap and shake. with this you are good to go. apply on ur underarm whenever u need to go out.
i have been using this for the past 3months now and am odor free!
the only side effect is that for the first two weeks or so each time u apply it u'll feel a peppery reaction - but its ok. a small price to pay to be odor free.
if this works for u let me know: firstname.lastname@example.org

I don't have bad body oder but I sweat excessively no matter what I am doing. I don't mean my armpits, I mean my whole body. I sweat so much I look like I just got out of the shower all the time. The sweat literally rolls off my body at all times. I have had this problem for as long as I can remember and I have had no luck in finding a cure. People have told me that it is thyroid but I have had it checked and still no solutions. I have tried so many different ways to stop it but have had no luck. Is there anyone else who has this problem? It has gotten worse since I turned 40. I get so embarrassed because I have to walk with a towel on my neck at work to wipe the sweat constantly. Please if there is anyone out there that can help me I would appreciate it very much. Thanks Bea

It was very interesting reading about your sweating and odour problems and i can't wait to start trying these home remedies out.
I don't sweat so much but for some reason the odour is always really bad under my armpits. I tried botox and it helped eliminate any sweating and initially helped the smell but it eventually came back and the second time i did botox it didn't help at all. It was the most amazing feeling being able to get up and wear anything i wanted, but now i have to bring a top to change into during work or a washcloth to freshen up but it's so tiring and embarrassing, not to mention time consuming constantly thinking about how i can hide or stop the smell. It is becoming something i am obsessing about all the time i hate it.
I just wanted to say, i use Mitchum which is pretty good but doesn't really work that well for the smell anymore so today i tried the white vinegar remedy that has been suggested.
I found that it definitely did reduce the odour which was interesting but i am so conscious of any smell that i was worrying about the 'vinegar' smell all day because even after a shower it lingered and made me self conscious. Does anyone else have this problem where even when you wash or apply something, it still smells? or if you wash under your arms then towel dry it, the towel makes it smell funny too? Its really frustrating, i want something that has absolutely no scent and won't make me worry about it..... maybe i just have an oversensitive nose...but i just think that if i can smell it, then others can. I am a very social person so this is very depressing because i avoid going out!

i have decided not to use deodorants at all. why use them if they dont work. I just take ZInc supplements 60mg per day. I take 30mg in the morninng, and 30 later on during the day. Make sure you eat before you take'em. give it two weeks to take effect.
Dont drink milk within an hour of taking zinc.
Hope this helps!

salamo alikom, i'm in.
i've read something on net though not so sure about, that japanese scientists discovered that women with bad underarm smell & excess ear wax do have the breast cancer gene which causes these changes to body,
i have both cases but i'm not afraid, god can protect me.
CABBAGE: eating red cabbage is good in inhibiting this gene and is very good in solving the body odor after regular consumption.

For some odd reason I only sweat under my left arm, I think for that reason it is really bad. Anyway I started drinking chlorophyll and it helped with all body odor, for my hubby too. I used to get it at a health food store but found it cheaper to order online.
You get used to the flavor and even crave it, I like de souzas brand. You spend about 8 bucks a month and can go deodorant free on slow days.
#125 - vero - 06/14/2011 - 16:00
Ingesting coconut oil has made a life changing difference in my BO. I had a problem for decades with gross odor from one arm pit as well as an overall peculiar smell that eventually filled the bedroom at night. Since I started taking 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil it has all stopped - from day 1. I had no idea this would happen - I was taking it for unrelated concerns. Unbelievable!

Thank God I'm not alone. I did not have this hyperhidrosis problem. My excessive underarm sweating started appearing on 4th grade and i was very embarassing. i stopped joining dances, clubs and different activities because i was so afraid people would discover it and make fun of me ( in fact some people already know but they did not make fun because it didn't smell bad due to my use of Tawas. Unfortunately, Tawas only eliminates the smell and doesn't stop the excessive sweating. I don't know what to do i'm so scared and i don't want to grow old like this with this condition. trust me i've tried Nivea and an Avon antiperspirant but they didn't work my underarms still sweat. they sweat in great amounts and so easily like when i just run in a short distance or i am exposed to the sun after a while they start to sweat. it's so embarrassing so can anyone please help me? I really don't understand it wasn't this sweaty in my younger years but since 4th grade they were sweaty to the point of embarrassment. I really need help. Does DRICLOR really work? I'm still 15 and I don't want to spend P800 just for another antiperspirant that does not work. Is it safe for 15 yr olds?

#133 - Cgoiul - 09/24/2011 - 03:14
For those complaining about body odor, please good TMAU (fish odor syndrome), this may be a cause of your body odor if you smell fishy, funky, or like garbage.
If you are complaining about just underarm odor or just foot odor, that's bromhidrosis, which is chronic underarm or foot odor. If you google bromhidrosis, you will find a decent amount of information about it.
Other body odor problems, consider doing a colon cleanse to remove toxins from your body. Also see your doctor about getting metabolic testing done to make sure you're digesting correctly. There are posts all of the web of people complaining about B.O. problems and there is a lot of misinformation out there, so please do your research and be careful.
SEE YOUR DOCTOR!
#134 - Marco - 09/27/2011 - 22:10
I've dealt with chronic underarm odor on and off for 5 years. It really is a chronic problem, I can shower and put on antiperspirant/deodorant and I will soon be stinking. It seems to be a common problem because I see many many posts online about it. The condition is called Bromhidrosis. The only problem is that not many doctors know how to treat it. I've talked to two doctors and they didn't have much to give me. But I am going to see a dermatologist. Hopefully the dermatologist can prescribe an antibacterial agent to me to reduce the bacteria causing odor on my skin. I will keep everyone updated. But really, I think we'll have to find an expert in the field (maybe at a teaching hospital) to really fix the problem. All of these remedies treat the symptoms but not the actual problem.
The root problem is one of two things - either excess bacteria in the underarm region, or two much "fatty sweat" being produced my the appocrine glands. The only way I can think of to eliminate the problem is to either eliminate most of the bacteria in the underarm or cut off sweating to the underarm via surgical means, to keep the bacteria from having a food source (sweat) to feed on. Bacteria causes the odor by breaking down the sweat, the sweat is odorless. Also, shave your underarms even if you are a guy, this will reduce the surface area where bacteria can rest in the underarm and also, hair traps odor so even after you shower, the hair can hold odor.
#135 - Marco - 09/27/2011 - 22:20
Lastly, anyone with excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), there are plenty of options out there. You can get products like Drysol or Certain Dri over the counter at any drugstore/grocerry. I recommend Certain Dri, it has gotten a lot of good reviews. Also consider that you can get botox in the underarms to reduce or eliminate sweating. Also, a last ditch effort would be to have the sweat glands removed from your underarms, but this is costly and should be considered a last ditch attempt. Also, you can take some oral meds to reduce underarm sweating.
I think hyperhidrosis is easier to treat than bromhidrosis, but they are are both terrible conditions as we all know. I'm praying for all of us.

I have no problems with sweat or odor. I can go without anything and still be okay.
For the people needing help with smell use vinegar. It kills 99% of bacteria and odor is caused by bad bacteria. Try baby powder for the sweat.

Vinegar in armpits? So then your armpits will smell like feet? Brilliant!
Here's an idea for body odor: hot water, soap, deodorant.
Welcome to the 21st century, hope you enjoy it.

I tried triple antibiotic ointment under my arms, trying to get rid of a rash I had. I'd tried virtually everything else to no avail. After a couple of weeks using the ointment, the stubborn rash went away. A positive side effect was it cleared up my body odor as well.
I had noticed that with the rash (which on the internet sounded like it was a bacterial infection of the hair follicles) had come REALLY bad underarm smell, made worse because I coudn't use deodorant due to the rash. The rash has been gone for weeks and I never started using deodorant again. I keep clean, of course (wash my underarms twice/day), but I don't have embarrassing odors anymore.
Or, my sense of smell is gone. You try it and get back to me.

Thank u so much 4 these suggestions, ive suffered from this condition for almost 10 years and the worst part is that people assumme that u dont bathe or put on deordorant.it hurts equally when family members are in denial or jus assume that the problem will go away never realising how much of a silent battle it is and never having the guts to tell u 2 your face and then suggesting some remedies that might help.ill b tryin everyone and i pray that it works cause it really can decrease your confidence and self worth when people move away from u cause the think that u dont bathe.I read all your comments and pray that ill be freed alittle more everyday from this condition.
