For: Leg cramps and Restless Legs syndrome
Unwrap a new regular size bar of soap, any brand, and place it between the two sheets on your side of the bed. The soap should be placed not far from the foot of the bed and on whichever side wanting it from your feet. You will never realize it is in the bed as you are not going to have it this close to your body. When making the bed up, always make sure the soap is on the flat area, on your side and hasn't fell over the end of the mattress where the top sheet is tucked under. Time to remove the old bar and replace with another new bar when having the first sign of any leg/toe cramping. I used to have terrible cramps! I am asked what is in the bar of soap when their leg/toe cramping stops? Sorry, I don't know the answer. Don't do what I did after a long period of time. I was having no more leg cramps to let me know when to switch out the soap. So, I thought the leg cramps had ceased. After a period of time had passed, I was woke up with my whole leg cramping terribly and including toes drawing. I will not quit having my bar of soap in the bed anymore! Another thing, my not knowing if it will work for everyone who suffers from restless legs syndrome, but I put a new bar of soap on my husband's side of the bed as an experiment. I seen he was sleeping well at night with my being a night owl. With never saying anything to me, I finally asked about his restless legs syndrome after about ten days? He told me that he wasn't having it and not knowing why. But, he was hoping to not have it anymore. When telling him I had placed a new bar of soap on his side of the bed she was shocked. He knew it wasn't a mind thing since not knowing it was there. When having the first reoccurring sign, he wanted another new bar of soap. So glad I experimented to see if the soap would help my husband.
He has been using the soap for months now. One day recently, it tried to flare up, but we know the soap is working for him! - Kay Berry

The bar of soap trick really does work. My mother learned of it and I have been doing it ever since I was 22 years old and would have sore legs and feet from work. I highly recommend it.

My grandmother puts a bar of soap under her sheets and she says it works.
I also have pains in my leg daily and I take motrin. It helps, but after a while of taking it, it tears up your stomach.
Thanx 4 the help! ;-)

I put 3 cups of REV epsom salt (for moms) into my bath water and soak it for 15 minutes (very good and relaxing scent and 100% natural). This makes me really feel rejuvanted ;-)
#4 - Marla - 11/03/2008 - 11:18
Like Maria I also use epsom salt because my Mom has always looked to it as a cure all. However, after trying almost all the ones on the market I prefer Pepsom Sports because it has a great spearmint scent and is only about $3. Soaking in Epsom salts is not only one of the most relaxing things you can do but also helps to remove toxins :-D

I put a bar of Ivory in a pillow case with the pillow and the first night I had a cramp in my calf. I noticed that the bar of soap was on the bottom of t he pillow, so I flipped the pillow over and the second night, there was no cramping.
Those who are potassium low should buy low sodium V8 juice. Instead of 540 mg of potassium in regular V8, there are 950 mg of potassium. Remove all salt in your shakers and replace with "No Salt" which is pure potassium and can be found at Publix. I carry a small pill bottle in the car to take into restuarants and use it instead of salt as well.

My mother in her 90's tried the soap for her fidgety legs. Was told not to use Dove or Dial. It worked the first night. Today she told her doctor and he said, yes, it really works but he said be sure the soap is not scented. He recommended a glycerine soap like Pears.

Call me CRAZY!!! This really works. I have had leg and foot cramps for years. I used to take quinine but can no longer get it. I have been using the soap for four weeks now. If I start to get a cramp in my foot or leg I just move the soap right to the area and go right back to sleep. Some say put it under the sheet but I make sure the bar is touching my skin. My sister uses it for hand cramps and it works. Try it....what do you have to lose.

i've been suffering from ankle and knee pain for 25 yrs, and also heel spur. no medication helped. I read about the soap remedy on the net, and tried it immediately. The relief I found was too good to believe, and I could sleep without tossing and turning. I keep two bars of soap handy, and rest my feet on them when I watch TV or work on the computer.

The soap worked for me! I haven't had these foot and leg cramps since I tried it. Someone suggested it's because the bar of soap is full of moisture.? Anyway..I am relived to have sorted the problem. thank you to al who suggested this.

I have Restless Leg Syndrome and it's been getting worse so I did a little research on the web tonight. On several sites I read about putting a bar of soap down by your legs in bed with you at night. My RLS starts before I go to bed and it was driving me crazy tonight - I was squirming around in my chair trying to ignore the agony. I put on a sock and put the thin remains of an old bar of soap in the sock next to my ankle. The result was immediate and incredible and unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I put on the sock and put in the bar of soap and came back and sat down and the agony of RLS is GONE!!!!!!!! I'm having trouble believing this, but my gosh I'm grateful to the people who posted about using a bar of soap!
Both legs and ankles, and my back were bothering me and I only put a sock with a bar of soap in it on one foot and the agony is gone all over my body!!!!!!!
This is hard to believe! If you have RLS, TRY THIS! It's quick, simple, cheap, readily available, and harmless. Good luck to you all.
And God Bless the people who posted about, this!

I have a theory why the soap works. It may be right or not. Regardless, it does work and works good. I use Ivory bar soap, unwrapped under the bottom sheet. So I looked up the ingredients in it, and one of things that's in it is magnesium sulfate. Here's the thing about mg. Most of us or low, and we don't get enough from food sources, and that includes organic. Well, magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer. As a matter of fact, magnesium relaxes your muscle and your arteries to improve blood flow. Calcium causes muscles to contract. And the calcium won't work properly without enough magnesium.
I also get RLS from time to time. So I stick my feet up against that soap. The mg may be helping here, but it could also be that you have a mental place to rest your feet up against. Well, that's just a theory, but in truth, magnesium may be helping the most.

I too couldn't understand how it could work with the soap but was willing to try anything. I have rls, arthritis, fibromyalgia and even as a child my legs hurt. I am on a strong narcotic for my pain but it didn't touch the leg pain. I tried the ivory soap, alternated w glycerin soap & it worked for like a year! I got so use to no leg pain and what w going out of town and all forgot to replace. I t took a while like a month but boy did it come back one nite w a vengeance. I use dial soap for washing so I was up searching desperately for a bar of soap w/o deoderant etc. I ended up using a heart shaped bar with an engraved angel nicely wrapped that I had been displaying for looks! Needless to say I pray I never let myself get in that condition again. God bless you all.

I found out about the soap remedy on this forum and I've used it off and on over the last year. Last night I culdn't sleep and restless leg activity set in and then there was no way I was going to be able to sleep. So I taped a thin bar of soap to both my lower legs and like a miracle (!) there was no more of the restless leg symptoms!
That was the fastest the soap remedy has ever worked for me. It may have worked so well because the soap was taped right against my legs and had good contact with my skin instead of just being somewhere next to my ankles inside the socks on my feet. I can't figure out how soap works. As long as it works, I don't even care if it's a placebo effect.(But I don't think it is a placebo effect.)
Good luck to you all!
