A boil many times also defined or known as a skin abscess. It is nothing but a localized infection that is deeply seated beneath the skin. A boil normally begins as a reddened and tender area. Eventually, the area will become firm and hard. Gradually, the center of that abscess will soften and will be filled with infection.

The infection will fight with white blood cells that the body sends via the bloodstream to eradicate the infection. The collection of those white blood cells, dead bacteria (sometimes live too), and proteins is collectively known as pus. At end, the pus will form a head that can be surgically opened or spontaneously drained out through the surface of the skin.

There are various types of boils including Furuncle or Carbuncle, Cystic acne, Pilondial cyst and Hidradenitis suppurativa seen in different cases. The appearance of the boils depends upon the causative factor and the condition of the disease.

I regularly get boils in my groin area because my legs rub together there. I have found that soaking in a warm bath with tea tree oil at least once a week helps to prevent boils from forming and also to shrink the existing ones. I also found that drinking more water helps them to heal faster.

Eggshells work perfectly, And it doesnt even take a day. If you crack open an egg and place the shell with the egglining still inside on the boil within a few hours it will come to a head and puss will evacuate. I didnt believe it until I did it for myself.

I've gotten boils for about 4 years and hot baths with peroxide and salt help some of the discomfort. I had one on the back of my leg and i went to the doctor for it but it was way more trouble and pain then it was worth.

Since I had my last child I have been getting boils regularly when I get my period. At first I believed it was a change in my hormones that caused it but over some time I came to reliaze that mine are caused by Always maxi pads. Apparently after having a child my body became allergic to them. So I stopped wearing them and only have a problem when I'm very stressed. I also found that placing a warm tea bag on your boil will help raise all the puss to the surface so it can be drained quicker.

i get boils once in awhile, but this time i got one on face! ugh! desperate to get rid of it quikly i started researching online and decided to try a suggested remedy of CAMPHO-PHENIQUE. it availble over the counter for less than 5.00. i put a small dab on the band aid pad...and within a few hours puss started running down my cheek and the core was brought the surface! this worked wonders for me and it even took the pain away imediatly after application. only draw back is the campho REALLY stinks. but small price pay for relief!

I've had bad boils since I was thirteen years old. I get them in my chest and under my arms. I have a skin condition called furuncle or something. They really hurt like Hell. I have to go to the doctor to get them removed. They are so painful. So I know what every one is goin through. I get them every week. They get really bad when im on my cycle. One doctor told me that its because I have over active yeast in my body. She said that I need to see a skin specialist and get my arms and chest scraped because my pours are clogged.

Tea tree oil works best for me after trying everything, and believe me I tried all remedies on the internet.

It kills just about any infection and heals too.

I have had hidradenitis for over 20 years now, and I get severe boils that come and go. I can tell you the only thing that works for me even after surgery because they still come back after surgery. I had to completely change my eating habits and watch what I wear so that they will not reoccur. I now juice carrots and apples and drink it twice a day at least 8oz each (or any combination of vegetable with apples). I cut out all meats with the exception of antibiotic and hormone free chicken and fish. I eat as many raw fruit and vegies as I want each day, and I take vitamin E (capsule), vitamin C (I usually add 1 tsp. to one of my juices daily), and a tablespoon of Flaxseed oil daily.
I have been under doctors care for years, but it wasn't until I took the natural approach that I realized it has a lot to do with lack of vitamins and minerals that my body was screaming out for. Hope this helps, and the toothpaste does work for me too on facial pimples.
