Remedy for Hiccups
I know this is strange but to rid hiccups, fill a small glass with tap water and place a paper towel over the opening of the glass. Drink all of the water through the paper towel. It always works for me! :)

The napkin over the glass idea is good. Ive been doing it for 30 years. I try to drink as much of the glass, through the napkin as I can with one gulp. Oh yes I also dont take a breath until Im done drinking.

This may saound hard but it can be done... Try PLUGGING YOUR EARS AND DRINKING AT THE SAME TIME... WORKS BEST IF DRINKING WATER. Not just a drink either you must drink a lot. If someone is there with you ask them to hold your ears and if not then you can simply get a straw then you can do it by yourself. TRUST ME IT WORKS i havebeen doing this since i was in 4th grade and dow my 5 yr old will tell others to do it!!!!!!

Drop a just lit burning match into a small glass of water. Drink water (not match...lol). Works every time.

Something about inhaling the sulphur and drinking the water simultaneously, I think.

Promise this will work....put a toothpick or something of similar length long-ways inside your mouth so the ends are pushing against your cheeks, then, take about 4 or 5 chugs of water in a row...hiccups gone!

Several of you have mentioned to plug the ears while drinking. I do this also, and it works. You must plug the ears completely, and drink an entire glass of water very slowly. It's true!!

Drink a few tablespoons of dill pickle juice. I've been doing this for 20 years, and it works. I think it's the vinegar. I've heard that some athletes use dill pickle juice for uncontrollable muscle spasms in other parts of the body.

I get the hiccups constantly....not dainty ladylike little hics but loud and embarrassing cases that sound like *HILK* or *HIC-CULLP* Of all the home remedies peanut butter or sugar is the only cure that sometimes work but not guaranteed....otherwise mine just have to run their course.

I have to say. I closed both my ears with ear plugs and drank a glass of water slowly (sips) with a paper towel over the glass. It worked, I can't believe it. And it was only after a couple sips that they went away. I had the hiccups twice today, I wish I knew this trick earlier.
