When I was overseas in Germany the European medical technician prescribed majoram tea. This was made of dried Majoram leaves and a little bit of dried mint leaves, brewed into a hot tea and sipped. The fresher the dried majoram leaves the better. It works wonders on soothing the menstral cramps. I used to get them so bad that it would put me in bed for a few days until I started drinking this tea.

I read somewhere once that raspberries help with menstrual cramps. I bought an herbal raspberry tea and drinking it warm helps a lot.

In response to drinking as much water as possible in one setting as suggested, it should be noted that too much water can cause problems and overhydrate cells so do not drink so much that you feel ill.
#7 - Maria - 10/10/2008 - 11:15
If you drink any type of tea when cramping (which means if you are pregnant you can do this too, just pick baby-safe ones), the tea will help because of how warm it is in your belly.
Its like putting a hot water bottle there, just less hassle. And tasty.

Sipping on a little bit of wine relaxes your stomach muscles and helps with cramps. My grandfather (RIP) told me that when I was only 13 years old. It really does help.

Shepherd's Purse & Nettle herbal extracts or teas do wonders for extremely heavy bleeding within a day or two. 40-50 drops of the extract in a little water 5-6 times a day. I also sip on Raspberry Leaf Tea throughout the day. The Nettle also helps with the Iron loss from the heavy bleeding. It is an easy on the go remedy. Put tea in a coffee thermos and a bottle of water on my desk with the drops and within 24 hours there is a huge improvement.

Take the following daily will help with most menstruation issues:
1)1000mg salmon oil capsules
2)1200mg fish oil (omega3)
4)1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
5)replace all oils w/[@] coconut oil for cooking & baking
6)take extra vita b
7)drink & eat fresh young coconuts as often as possible
8)Eat collard greens, spinach & chard as often as possible
9)eat apples, bananas, papaya, oranges
As often as possible
10) eat amaranth products it has generous amounts of iron to replenish iron in your blood, calcium to help your cramps. & many other nutrients to support you.
11)drink kombucha tea (especially during period) but everyday is recommended (you can drink with red wine as tonic with tintures lime cramp bark, valarian, & passion flower.
12)drink 2-3 Ox shots of fresh wheatgrass juice daily
13)eat black, pinto, & kidney beans in the juice ( best if homemade: just put beans in oven pot with 5x purified water with lid into oven @ 300 degrees for approx 3-5 hours, when skin of beans are tender take out of oven and season with sea salt & spices , onions, garlic & chilies
Keeping a good diet & low stress with proper sleep & excercise balanced will ensure your body is properly supported for your cycle. Be patient with your new remedies sometimes they can take 2-3 months to normalize, be diligent & don't slack off. Be sure to add probiotics into your daily consumption (yogurt, kefir, kombucha, or capsules) this helps your body in everyway possible. Also food high in enzymes.
I personally have the worst periods I ha e ever seen or heard of & I have incorporated each of these steps into my daily consumption & it has helped me tremendously, I can say the most helpful thing you can do is stay positive & keep your mind off it by watching comedy or funny movies, you can do it by keeping the joy!

How can I stop(or thin) the heavy flowing? It gets really annoying especially when i'm @ school. This is gonna sound gross but, sometimes it's so heavy it feels like i peed blood.
#43 - WHY!?!?!? - 04/16/2010 - 22:09
:-) I usually have really bad cramps the first day of my period. But I noticed when I take a tablespoon of flax seed oil every day, my last period, I didn't even cramp, and my breast did not swell at all. I highly recommend this, it's suppose to prevent breast cancer also if taken regularly. I guess it's something that SHOULD be in our diets and has been taken out.
