i just found out i am 1 month pregnant. I have always been a very heavy smoker and I have now cut back from about 20-25 smokes day to about 7 or 8. I am finding it extremely hard to cut down to 0. I am worried I will have a misscarriage because of my smoking. Can anyone share any light on my concerns? Or tips how a pregnant woman like myself can quit such an addictive habbit?

I commend you for realizing that the smoking is harmful to your pregnancy. I hope by now you have been able to quit totally. Please remember that after you give birth you will also need to be smoke free for your sake and your infants' sake. Second hand smoke is bad, but children also learn by example that you as a parent will show.
Good luck to the remainder of your pregnancy and in raising a healthy resilient child.

I realize you may not see this comment, and in addition, it's coming kinda late from when you first posted. However, I saw it and had to let you know that quitting completely is imperative. I had a friend in high school who was deaf and had some other cognitive problems that were blamed on his mother smoking during pregnancy.

You CAN stop this and prevent anything from happening. Please - this is about someone who cannot defend themselves. This is bigger than your craves or desires. You can do this.

I'm kind of curious as to Why Lobelia is on the list up there. Everything I have ever read on the particular item says it should be avoided by pregnant or nursing women. ??????
