Bookmark and Share

Yeast infection refers to the infection caused by the fungus candida albicans. Yeast infections are also known as candidiasis. Around 90 percent of women suffer from vaginal yeast infections. Home Remedy for Yeast Infection
My home remedy for a yeast infection is plain yogurt on a sanitary pad. It will not only remove the itch right away, it will kill the yeast infection as well. It really is fool proof. A bit messy but worth it.

#6 - b.e. - 06/09/2008 - 14:17
Brown regular flour and after each restroom trip, apply after urinating. It dries up the yeast a little faster.
#7 - Tiffany Cooks - 06/23/2008 - 01:43
PUT PLAIN YOGURT INSIDE OF THE FINGERS OF PLASTIC GLOVES. THEN FREEZE THEM IN THE REFRIGERATOR. THEN TAKE THEM OUT THE GLOVE AND PUSH IT INTO THE VAGINA.
#8 - tiffanY g - 09/04/2008 - 23:09
I have suffered from yeast infections every month since I was a young girl, until now..
To stop yeast infections from coming back: The key is to ALKALIZE your body. Fungal (and bacterial) overgrowth in the body LOVE an acidic environment.
READ Alkalize or Die by Theodore A. Baroody - Its cheap and fantastic for pretty much any health problem:

*Eat a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veges (preferably organic), good fats and oils and quality proteins and grains, herb teas, lemon water, filtered/spring/boiled water with a couple of drops of lemon juice.
*Have 2-3 chloryphyll drinks per day - I SWEAR by this as since I started I no longer have yeast infections. I use Morelife Phytofood Greens in powder form, 1 tsp twice a day.
*Exercise 3-4 times a week but not to the point of exhaustion
*Keep these foods to a REAL minimum: processed foods, white sugar, sweet foods (instead you can get sugar from natural sources like fruit, unprocessed honey, dried cane juice, brown rice syrup etc)
#9 - Neeks - 10/17/2008 - 06:18
I've heard drinking one glass of cranberry juice a day will prevent yeast infections.
#10 - Shona - 10/17/2008 - 19:53
I have been having bacteria and yeast infection for 9 months. I have tried several mediacal and natural treatment. The maximum time without itching has been 2 days.... :-(. I am so tired... right now I am trying the diet suggested by Neeks and the yougurt (4 days so far). I really hope it works.
#11 - Carmen - 10/31/2008 - 00:22
soaking in baking soda works also to put cornstarch after a hot bath
#12 - les - 11/24/2008 - 21:17
eat lots and lots of yogurt and/or probiotic (natural food stores)
#13 - j - 12/01/2008 - 19:17
I use plain yogurt overnight as someone else has suggested and it works great! i will never use those OTC products again...they are way too harsh for your system.
#14 - Lola - 12/04/2008 - 20:44

#15 - goodie29 - 12/18/2008 - 17:28

#16 - Marianne - 12/27/2008 - 18:14
Yup, best cure ever. Dip a tampon in yogurt. (Yogurt must be plain, balkan style....just milk and bacterial cultures...NO SUGAR) Insert tampon and leave overnight... I've even done this during the day. Repeat if necessary

Thank you so much for the yogurt advise! I never thought to actually put yogurt on the infected area! Instantly the itching has stopped! Way better than OTC lotions that just burn. Thank you!
#25 - happy vag - 02/12/2009 - 11:47
plain yoghurt with no sugar coz yeast love sugar.
#26 - Karen - 03/03/2009 - 19:20
i eard that you should NEVER use a tampon to soak up anything (like yogurt, vinagar, ect) but menstral cycle fluid, because it can cause horriable vaginal bleading. please head my warning!!
#27 - weet_pea2021 - 03/06/2009 - 12:17
i am having a yellowy white ,foul smell vaginal discharge and itchiness for almost two years now, it comes mostly after my period. I never had this problem before ever, it happened when i did a pill abortion (with misoprostol and some other tablets) ,after having the abortion it caused this problem ... i also took a smear test as per my doctor, but it came as negative (yeast infection) instead my doctor told me to use to use OTC products. I used monstat and canesten vag. creams but no progress.. i dont know what should i do??? see a doctor again or what else .. can you provide me a solution???
#28 - jk123 - 03/08/2009 - 20:22
I know from past experiences that some of the main causes for yeast infections are tight clothing and dirty hands. Please ladies, make sure your man (or woman) washes their hands completly before they touch you! Its amazing how many people dont do this and wonder why they have an infection. No matter how clean the hands look..WASH THEM! Especially before intercourse and changing tampons/pads.
#29 - Brittany - 03/17/2009 - 14:52
:-D
BORIC ACID the best remedy ever.
Get natural capsules at the herbal store and boric acid at the pharmacy and fill 2 capsules with boric acid. Insert high into the vagina preferably at bedtime and by morning no more yeast. Works great for me. Also a diet similar to Atkins diet with no sugar or carbs also works.
Hope all of you ladies get rid of this horrible thing that I suffered from for more than 10 yrs.
#30 - Marianna - 03/20/2009 - 17:02

#32 - need help - 03/26/2009 - 17:29
I tried soaking a tampon in a 1/2 cup of warm water and a 1/2 cup of apple cidar vinegar. Wait a few minutes to make sure the tampon absorbs as much liquid as possible. Then insert into the vagina over night. I feel relief already.

i think ive had yeast infection for over 2 years UNTREATED
i didnt know it was yeast infection until now because i was 16 when i got it.
im scared it might turn into HIV :(
can anyone help me
#35 - ashley - 04/07/2009 - 15:46
use a clove of garlic. Insert into the vagina ,leave it in overnight. Repeat for 3-4 days
#36 - Melody - 04/11/2009 - 12:55
I tried yogurt and it instantly helped the itching. I put a glove on, pushed some inside my vagina and rubbed it all around affected area. Also, ladies use a pad, this could get messy. Not sure this will cure my yeast infection, but it sure helps the symptoms! Plain yogurt, no additives such as sugar or FRUIT! If you have a foul smell or yellow/green discharge this could be a serious infection, please see a doctor ASAP, also to the girl wondering about HIV, you CANNOT contract HIV from having a yeast infection, however if you feel you are at risk, get tested and educate yourself so you can protect yourself
#37 - girl1 - 04/12/2009 - 00:31
I'm suffering now vaginal itchiness can yourecommend the best remedy to stop itchiness
#38 - shy - 04/23/2009 - 09:09
does the garlic and the vinegar just ease the symptoms or actually get rid of the yeast on a whole????? what gets RID of it?
#39 - confused - 04/29/2009 - 20:25
OMG thank you whoever suggested using plain yogurt on a pad - two days of itching have FINALLY stopped!

A good home remedy if you're near your period is to just get your period and use cloth pads for a few days instead of tampons. Sometimes this will clear up a yeast infection without you having to do anything else. It won't do much about the itching, though - for that, use yogurt.
#40 - anneille - 04/30/2009 - 16:48
Ladies, I suffered from vaginal thrush for a year and nothing worked (yogurt, Caneston etc.) - I had the whole works - severe itching, foul smell, lots of discharge. It completely put an end to my sex life!
The thing that worked instantly for me was a herbal remedy called Kandidplex. My problem was candida which had obviously gotten out of control. So by attacking the root cause, rather than the symptons I was finally rid of it. This remedy contains biotin, pau d'arco and a couple of other things. This was purchased from my natropath. Probiotics are important too. I also support the comment about keeping your body alkanised.
#41 - Harri - 05/06/2009 - 08:06
To #35 Ashley

First, PLEASE get some treatment. Try one of these remedies. Do something. An untreated yeast infection for that long is a terrible thing.

In addition, yeast infections can NOT turn into HIV! It terrifies me that you can even think that's possible, especially if you are now 18. You need to read up on yeast infections and HIV. IMMEDIATELY!!! And please PLEASE don't attempt any sexual intercourse until you are more informed of STDs, what they are and HOW you get them!!!
#42 - Amanda - 05/07/2009 - 23:28
First off if you jave never had a yeast infection before you need to see your doctor first to make sure that's what you really have. Second becareful with the vinegar and thr probiotics because that can cause your vagina to be too acidic which can be causing the burning. Probiotics can cause an overgrowth of lactobialis which causes the same symtoms of a yeast infection but without the discharge. Lots of STD's have the same symptoms as yeast infections including bacterial infections so seeing a doctor first is your best option then see if a home remedy will work. Good luck ladies.
#43 - erin c. medical assistant - 05/11/2009 - 15:14
Suggest you also stay away from eating food containing yeast and fungi (e.g. Bread, cheese, mushrooms). It was tough adjusting for me at first but it's been worth it! :)
#44 - G. Ching - 05/16/2009 - 15:37
I tried honey for the beginning of the itch and burn, and it worked really good! Put honey on vagina where affected (inside as well, with the itch and all) put undergarment on for 20 minutes, then wash. It worked! The burning and itch were much better with this! Sometimes home remedies are really good, but first, always see a Doctor to be sure!!
#45 - Jenny - 05/22/2009 - 13:59
oh my gosh I did't know you could put tea tree oil up there, doesn't it burn? It sounds kind of dangerous, I use it for my underarms instead of deodorant and it works real good but sometimes it burns a little if I put too much, so I really can't imagine putting it on a tampon and sticking it up there or even rubbing it on there. Also # 32 greenish discharge doesn't sound like a yeast infection, a friend of mine had that symptom and she had to take a round of antibiotics for having contracted gonnoreah I probably did't spell that right but you get the idea, don't wait to go to the doctor because it could possibly make you infertle.
#46 - Rene - 06/01/2009 - 22:07
Can the honey get rid of the yeast infection..and what's the best thing 2 use if It's A light discharge & itching only?

#48 - michele - 06/18/2009 - 20:49

#49 - michelle - 06/23/2009 - 10:16
Hi Ladies,

I am having sores down there and they itch, especially after the ontercourse, i also have a thick whitish discharge but no smell, can you please suggest some remedies for me.....it i stop intercourse for a while all this goes away, but comes back again when i start....pls help..
#50 - Cums - 07/06/2009 - 10:39
I stopped eating starches and sugars, ate a clove of crushed garlic and 6Oz of yogurt everyday for 2 weeks. All this eased the symptoms but did not completely get rid of them. Then I read that red wine is also a probiotic and after 2 glasses of Spanish red, I felt a million times better and the next day the symptoms were gone. Not many websites are linking the benefits of red wine to yeast infections, but it worked like a miracle for me!
#51 - Sha - 07/17/2009 - 15:47
Hey, I agree with the women who said use AZO-yeast. I have had many yeast infections in the last couple of months, and finally my doc said use AZO, and in just a couple of days the symptoms went away, and so did the yeast infection. Best of all you can get it OTC at a drug store, its all natural, and you can use it with other medications. ITS THE BEST! AZO!!!
#52 - Jen - 07/18/2009 - 17:02
My friend said i should go to the dr before i try one of these remedies but that is what im trying to avoid. She said that it might be a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. #60 - amber - 08/29/2009 - 22:05
I suffered it for two years, itching, burning, and discharge. Over the counter and prescription medicine didn’t help. Yogurt didn’t help. I finally cured it by taking probiotics, garlic, Olive leaf extra, and oil of oregano. You can get them at whole food market. I took probiotics and garlic first, it didn’t seem work. Then I tried Olive leaf extra. After finishing half bottle, I tried oil of oregano for two weeks. Then all the symptoms are gone. It is been a year now. The yest infection never comes back. I don’t know which bottle help me cure it. Maybe they all work a little bit. I also took the advice from a book “The Yeast Connection and Women's Health”. Low carb, no sugar, no yeast, no antibiotics.
#61 - happy girl - 09/02/2009 - 15:38
I dug out the cottage cheese discharge from the insides of my vagina walls with my finger (washed and clean of course!) and amazingly the itch started subsiding! It's been an hour and it's not itchy anymore! Hope it stays this way...
#62 - zh - 09/13/2009 - 00:03
I JUST TRIED ONE OF THE HOME REMEDIES FOR YEAST INFECTIONS: YOGURT!! OMG IT WORKS.. INSTANTLY U FEEL RELIEF FROM THE ITCHING AND BURNING... I'LL NEVER USE OTC DRUGS AGAIN
#63 - praysem - 09/19/2009 - 20:30
Damn, I am thouroughly disgusted and will never have sex again in my life. I never knew that you all had a cheesecake factory down between your legs. If I were you, I would sew that puppy up and put an "out of order" sign on it. Or, you could do what my momma always said to do after I shat my drawers.... "when in doubt, wash it oout!". Good luck to you all. Heeeeewwwwwweeeeee
#64 - Bob - 09/25/2009 - 09:21
There really are so many remedies that work well, diet is really the most important part of preventing yeast infections. All sickness starts in the stomach. I've found taking probiotics daily, consuming cultured dairy products like plain organic yogurt, buttermilk, cottage cheese, and kefir are key to adding the good bacteria back into the gut, and controling the yeast fungus. The Kyo-green drinks daily are also beneficial as well. Stay away from white sugar, white flour, Iodized salt, use sea salt instead. Eat lots of raw vegs. and fruits in moderation because fruits do have natural sugars. If you have one use a juicer, A great juice for getting rid of yeast is a bunch of spinach leaves, washed well, parsely a small bunch 3-4 carrots, one clove of garlic or a peice of ginger root the size of a garlic clove put all these through the juicer, drink 2-3 glasses daily for one week, or longer if you like. Yoga is also wonderful and relaxing stress will weaken our immune system and cause us to remain ill for longer. Also coconut oil applied externally to the vagina is soothing and you can take 1-2 teaspoonfulls daily I mix mine in oatmeal, or a bowl of lentil soup, with lots of onions and garlic of course. All these foods are anti-fungal and should be eaten daily. Drink lots of purified water, walk daily and eat organic as much as possible, cut down on meats, and eliminate processed and junk foods. YOu will see the difference God willing hope this helps some one:-)
#65 - Saleema - 09/26/2009 - 21:59
I have suffered with a back and forth yeast and bacteria battle for the last 2 years. I will be trying a few of these to see if they work. Thanks for the advice.

I will say that you should go to the doctors before trying things because the cure for one will actually make things worse for the other. That is what has caused me the most problems is because I was told I had a yeast infection when I had a bacteria infection which made my body reject treatment. :-(
#66 - Dani - 10/11/2009 - 19:49
Going to the doctor is a good idea, however natural treatments are also great, particularly when pills and antibiotics just bring the infection back :-(
