Home Remedies For Common Fever

One of the most effective home remedies for common fever is an Ayurvedic herb called holy basil. Make a drink using about 12 gm of holy basil leaves and boil them in ½ liter of plain but pure water. This is to be given two times a day with ½ a cup of milk, one tsp of sugar and a ¼ tsp of powdered cardamom to the person suffering from temperature. This helps in bringing down the fever.

Another home remedy for fever is drinking a tea made from fenugreek seeds two times a day. It is very useful as it is cleansing and soothing drink. It is specifically beneficial in dissolving mucus associated with fever.

One of the greatest home remedies for common fever is tea prepared from saffron. Make this tea by putting ½ a teaspoon of saffron in 30ml of boiling plain water. Give one teaspoon of this tea to the patient hourly till the temperature come back to normal.

The extract from raisins is another helpful way in the treatment of common fever. Make this extract by soaking 25 raisins in ½ a cup of water and grinding them in the same water. Strain the potion and discard the skin. Preparing in such a way turns normal raisin water into a great healthy tonic. Add ½ a teaspoon of limejuice to the extract for betterment in results. Take this two times a daily.

Some of the naturopaths suggest that a cup of fresh juice of apricots mixing with one tsp of glucose or honey is very good for treating fevers. It quenches the thirst and also terminates the waste products and toxins from the body. It will also supply vitamins and minerals to the body and hence, it helps in toning up the vital organs such as eyes, stomach, liver, heart, and nerves.

One of the simplest home remedies for common fever is consuming a juice of grapefruit. It is very valuable in all kinds of fevers. It is also beneficial in quenching thirst and removing the burning sensation, which is the main symptom in any fever. ½ a glass of grapefruit juice is to be taken with ½ a glass of water.

Another good food in all types of fever is oranges. They provide energy, increases urinary output, and enhance body resistance against various infections. They are especially effective when the digestive power of the body is seriously altered.

Many of the folk medicine books suggest that all animals and infants will refuse food when ill and hence, one should understand that this is an excellent example of how the nature works in giving response to the fever. Naturopaths advise that taking the liquids such as water, diluted fruit juices, hot water and lemon juices as well as hot teas (so that one will sweat) will be better turning higher temperature to normal. One should also keep oneself well hydrated and must restrict taking alcohol as it can be very harmful especially while running fever.

One should wear something that is comfortable and light. The fewer the clothes, the fairer are the chances of fever to come down. This is because the sweat glands will be in position to release moisture. Do not bundle up yourself in the hope that fever will subside quickly.

Very old but most effective home remedy for common fever is the water therapy. In most of the fevers, cold water packs help a lot to bring down the temperature. The evaporation of the water from the skin helps the body to cool down. Be sure that the water is not chilled, because this will make the fever to rise again.

Certain Ayurvedic herbs such as saptala, tulasi, saptachakra, sahdevi and aamlaki play important role in brining down the temperature of the body. One can use them as combination in some formula or can go for single drug therapy.
