Any person under stress or suffering from any physical problem is tending to suffer from headaches at one or the other stage of life. In headache the pain usually occurs in the smooth muscles encircling the blood vessels, which serve these areas. It also arises from irritation to nerve endings in the shoulder, neck and scalp muscles. Most headaches occur outside the skull, in the nerves, blood vessels and muscles that cover the head and neck. The muscles or blood vessels can swell, tighten, or go through other changes that stimulate or put pressure on the surrounding nerves. These nerves send a rush of pain messages to the brain, which brings on a headache. Headache is generally categorized as primary and secondary.

Primary headache is the one that is not caused by any disease or medical condition.

Secondary headaches are the result of medical condition such as infections. There are several types of headaches and each with different medications.

Migraine headache is the most chronic one. It is a severe pain felt on one side or sometimes both sides of the head. It is believed that over 25 million people suffer from migraine headaches and about 75 percent of them are the women. In migraine besides pain sometimes the patient also suffer from nausea and vomiting. Most commonly it affects the people between ages of 15-55.

The other types of headaches are tension headache in which the person feels pain in both sides of the head, sinus headache and the other is cluster headache in which one feels knife like pain on one side of the eye.

Causes of Headaches
The various causes of headaches are:
  • Allergy
  • Eyestrain
  • Bright light and loud noise
  • High blood pressure
  • Hangover
  • Stress and anxiety

I have suffered headaches all my life, especially sinus ones.. I have found alot of comfort from my herbal bag warmed in the microwave for 3 minutes, rapped in a hand towel and lay across my eyes and high cheek bones. I first apply vicks or mentholatum on the affected area then lay the bay, take a couple Advil for Sinus and within 30 minutes ... Totally gone, plus I can breathe freely through my nostrils.. IT REALLY WORK WELL !!

I have just recently (last 5 years) have been suffering with migraines. I have been prescribed many prescription drugs and all have created a new set of problems (mostly dizziness and numbness) The best thing I have found is called Lifezyme Plus (treats inflamation) It is not a cure all, but its natural and it really works for my headache problems. I hope this helps someone else who is suffering from nasty headaches. (This stuff is suppose to be for sciatica, but I came upon it quite by accident and when it said inflamation I jumped on it!

Try Feverfew, which has 0.5% parthenolide. Take it daily 3 times a day, for a few months atleast.
My headaches have not gone away totally, but are less frequent. Take ginger root juice mixed with a little honey for nausea(one teaspoon at a time) if you have that with yourheadaches, or take gingerroot pills.

I have found a quick and simple solution to make that headache pain go away....
I am a victim of headaches and sinus pressure headaches. I am healthy and physically fit. My job is not stressful and my personal life is fantastic but yet I still seem to get some of the worst headaches ever. I have NEVER been diagnosed or had a MRI to explain why the headaches persist. But the trick i have learned and it won't cost you a penny is if you rub the tendon that stretches between your Point Finger and Thumb it will lessen the pain of the headache and it may just make it go away. Work both hands until you feel the pain has lifted.
The only thing I can think of that makes this work is because it is sending waves to your brain that what you are rubbing is very tender/sensative and the harder your press while rubbing the less tension you have in your head.
I'm telling ya, this will work. Take a break and try it now for those of you who are suffering from a headache right now.

the best home remedy is to put ice on your forehead for about 3minutes.
#17 - kianndra - 02/06/2009 - 21:09
I have experienced that pinching and pulling the skin in between your eyes/eyebrows repeatedly; creating a red mark helps relieve it.
#18 - Kay - 03/02/2009 - 00:03
Personally the best remedy for my migraine headache is to put your feet inside a bucket of cold water with ice and hold it for as much as you can. The longer you can hold the cold the sooner your headache will go away. The headache causes your blood to be thick and the cold water makes your blood a little bit more watery and this makes you feel better. The results are immediately. Try it!

Caffine really helps me. Take a pain reliever. Ex. Motrin or advil. (motrin works great for me) and then right after you take it drink some caffine. coke really works for me over ice. But coffee or tea will help as well. I hope this helps.;-)

What I do for headaches is, I put a cold washcloth on my forehead and lay down in a dark, quiet room. Try it and see if if helps you. Also, have a big glass of ice water next to you to keep yourself hydrated.

Meditate on healing scriptures from the Word. A few are Psalms 91:16, Prov. 4:20-23, Matt. 8:2-3, 8:17, John 10:10. There are many more to choose from. Also sing songs of healing.

I am a daily headache sufferer and it seems that most people try the same methods over and over. I wouldn't advise to take medications due to the facts of other symptoms that may arise. Herbal products be careful, always ask your physician first. What I find most powerful is drinking lukewarm water mixing with honey and also, take some lemon juice from real lemons add raw onions to it and drink it on a daily basis. This helps cure most common aliments in the body altogether. It works. I been a migraine sufferer for 10 years, started at 22 yrs old with stress and sinus issues. Now I am in good spirit and great health. Never ever forget the WORD. Read the 23rd Psalm every night (this is how you get a good sleep) and watch how quickly your body return to its normal state. If that doesn't help, I don't know what else will. But it should. I know for some people they say orgasms, but that's only temporary help.

I agree with the feet in ice water treatment! A friend suggested it to me and I tried it. It works great. I start with cool water and get used to it - then I keep adding ice to the water as my feet get accostomed to the cold. I don't know why or how it works. All that matters to me is that it does. When I am at work and can't stick my feet in a bucket of water, I use an ice pack on my feet. I hope this helps others.

I have had a headache all day. I have taken ibuprofen and acetaminophen with no relief. I just pinched the spot between my pointer finger and thumb and I think it works. It hurts like heck but my headache is easing up.
