dark circles
Most people don't know this, but sometimes the cause of dark circles around the eye may be caused by WORMS. I recently experienced the same, and I realized that it was time for me to take a worm out. Any worm medication can be used for this but I use Zentel or Sena pod tea is effective as well.

Remedy for Under Eye Dark Circles
I tried the almond oil on my eyes for the past 3 months and the results are not as good as I had hoped. Around my eyes the circles are gone however, the inner corner of my eyes are still dark. I will try the tomato juice, lemon juice, tumeric and flour next and report back after 2 months.

Home Remedies for Dark Circles under Eyes
I have suffered from extremely dark cirlces all my life because of anemia which is a common cause of dark circees expecially in women.
The below is a home remedy I created myself and it does work.

1. Wash the face with a mild soap using warm water and gently pat your face with a face clothe ( do not rub the face or dry completely leave face moiste.

2. Use an exfolient and gently with a cotton ball cleanse above the and below pat dry with a dry cotton ball ( do not dry completely leave top and bottom of eye moiste.

3. Use a facial moisterzier under both the top and bottom of the eye and gently rub in a circular motion.

4. Take 5 slices of cucumber apiece of 1" long Aloe and 2 green tea packets ( empty the tea ) and put all into a blender.

5. Add 1oz of rosewater into the blender and put blender speed crush. Crush until is find then blend for 30 seconds.

6. Take ingrediants and gently apply to bottom on the eye rubbing in slow circular motions.

7. Leave on eyes for approx 30 minutes.

8. After the 30 minutes are up use warm water to rinse off and gently pat the eye dry.

NOTE: This works for me and others I have recommend it to but please keep in mind that this is something that needs to be done when you have the time and atleast 3 times a week for several weeks. You will however notice a slight change in the darkness of the cirlces to be a little lighter.

When applying make up.
1. Use a concealer that is a shade lighter than your cover-up and gently blend in a circular motion.

2. The use a yellow and a blue concealer under the eye and gently blend in a circular motion.

3. When putting your cover-up on do not blend in by your eyes. ( being the cover-up is darker than the concealer if you blend in under the eye you will make the cirlces darker because of the cover-up.

4. Lightly dust the facial powder onto your face and under the eye.

1. Use a liquid eyeliner on the top eyelid not the bottom. You need to use black and black only.

2. Do not use shades pink and purple eye shadows. By doing do will then enhance the dark circles under your eyes.

3. Do not put mascara on your bottom lashes once again this will draw attention to the bottom of your eyes

Dark Circles Under Eyes
Ive had dark circles under eyes for as long as I can remember.
Im 15 now and they are terrible.
No matter how much I sleep they dont seem to fade.
I have tried ice, and keep spoons in the fridge but they just get rid of the puffiness not the actuall dark circles.
I go through a concealer a week and its becoming quite expensive and it doesnt stay on throughout the day.
I also read that its genetic but no one in my family has them.
Is there a cheap, effective way of getting rid of them as they really make me lack confidence.
And whats the best food which contains a lot of fibre as i lack that too.

ugh I have had these dark circles since I was about 3. I still haven't figured out the cause of them but a few things i have tried that i do NOT recommend are the cremas from avon and revalon i've used them for twice a day for just over year and have seen absolutley no results. I am now trying this remedy of putting COLD water in a ziploc bag and putting it on your eyes until you fall alseep
#12 - Nathalie - 01/09/2008 - 20:52
Im 26 and I have had dark circles and hugh bags under my eyes for years. growing up I was accused of being on drugs, staying up for days, and being depressed because of the way my eyes look. And none of those things was true! I wish I had tried finding a remedy for my prob much sooner. would have made my life a little more pleasant. To the younger ones that have posted on this site, please. please. please keep trying everything you hear or read about. I have tried the cuccumbers and the tea bags and they both work great. Although I have had this prob for so long I have to do the remedy every night before going to bed. But the end result is I feel better about myself.
#13 - april - 01/15/2008 - 13:38
I'm 17 years old and of Italian heritage so I know how much this [@]. I've had them as long as I can remember. the best thing really is to get enough sleep and drink ALOT of water. I also found that Using a mint tea bag helps too. If you use one thats warm then super cold it helps alot.

Well.. since i hit puberty i'v had this problem of dark circles.. and i know it can really put your self asteem and confidence to rock bottom!

But this fantastic solution worked for me.. and i want to share it with you also! Because it really does work =P

Mix honey and flour to form a sloppy mixture.. along with a few drops of lemon juice! Add water to allow it to become just that little less solified and apply below your eyes! Keep it on until the flour hardens and starts to crumble. This should be about 10-15 minutes. Once its off.. wash your face with warm water! Apply every day- have a fixed time! I used to do it every evening =D.. And you'l have the WOW-FACTOR in no time!

Look beautiful.. Feel beautiful [X]

one word...HYLEXIN!!! it'll cost ya $95 but...works wonders...just apply under the eyes 'dark circles', see the difference in a couple of days to a week!
it's easy and it actually works!!!
#18 - api ele - 02/05/2008 - 22:16
To #19's comment....
I bought Hylexin for $100 and used it for 8 months now and it did not help one bit! So home remedys are the way to go. Until you've done them all don't waste your money.

#21 - Frank White - 02/24/2008 - 21:23

is there a way to get rid of them with out putting gross stuff on your eyes????
#22 - hi - 02/25/2008 - 15:28
:-) frank white try grated potato or cucumber if it doesn't work then drink water 6 glasses per day or simply when you go to sleep, i did try it, it really works. i mean when you go to sleep just crush one potato on the blender and put some on the dark circle under your eyes and let it overnight. when you wake up you will see some changes. Best of luck !
#23 - noory - 03/05/2008 - 07:22
Dark Circles under the eyes can also come from severe allergies. Things like dust and pollen get into your eyes and can cause your eyes to be worn and tired and scratchy and get dark circles under them.
#24 - Vsl - 03/19/2008 - 23:25
i use COFEE. dab a little under the eye and leave it on until its dry and wash it off.

(the coffe mixed with cold water)

its a quick fix though, and not permanent.

Gd luck

#28 - Natalie - 04/19/2008 - 18:17
For those of you who haven't had any luck with the home remedies, I have a little make-up trick that will help you cover the dark circles up!
A yellow tinted stick concealer (best is Physician's Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick in Yellow). Apply it as much as needed to cover any dark areas. Then apply a slightly lighter shade (than you would use on the entire face) of liquid foundation over the under eye area and blend. Next, take a mineral foundation (I use Physician's Formula Talc-Free Mineral Wear Loose Powder) and dust it over the under eye area (this mineral loose powder also works wonders on the whole face and gives it a nice glow). If after those steps the under eye area is too light to match the rest of your face, simply take your bronzer and lightly sweep it under your eyes but make sure to blend the bronze color to match the rest of your face for a nice summery glow and no dark circles! Hope it works for ya'll!
#29 - LeaMarie - 04/22/2008 - 10:50

Ok,I'm 12 and I have had dark circles very badly for about a year or 2 now and i wear concealer and powder but I would much rather just get rid of them for at least a period of time.I'm going into 7th grade and this is getting ridiculous. I think they may be hereditary because my dad and mom both have them only not as bad as me.I heard that it's very hard to get rid of hreditary circles but they look like the kind you could get rid of.So does anyone recomend anything for me?I will try the other remedies too so wish me luck :-) Good luck to everyone else too!

Hey everyone, I'm 14 years old and I've been struggling with extreme under eye bags for MANY years. They're in my genes. There isn't much you can do about them. Popped blood vessels are hard to overcome... especially if you have sensitive skin. So each morning when i get up and wash my face, I apply a bit of lotion to the area and dab some soft sheer cover concealer over it. (NEVER rub your concealer, ALWAYS dab using your ring finger or you'll get serious crows feet in a matter of years.) Sometimes I like to chill my eyes with high tannin tea and ice water. But mostly, just get more than enough sleep and drink lots of water. There is no cure. It's just in your genes. It pretty much [@]... hope this helped!

Take a fish oil capsule and take the oil out and gently massage it under the eyes. You will see a different in a day... Not a whole lot but slight for a day. I know how you feel... I have had dark circles for past 10 years... I feel very embarssed to make eye contact. I am always afraid someone might say something about the darkness
#52 - preciouschick - 10/16/2008 - 22:06
I think this really helps. take the oil out of the fish oil capsule and apply softly under the eyes. I tried it a few times it helped. Also, do take the capsule orally.
I hate these dark circles...they really make a person look unattractive. I hesitate to make eye contact with people....I hope it helps... :)

Hey first off ii would like to say i know how you feel.
but i have a double wammy. my facial structure causes my eyes but be sunk in i guess you could say and my skin there is really thin.
*mix nutmeg and milk together
it is a get way to reduce the bags
*apply around eyes before you go to sleep and wear it all night. you will notice they are lighter so depending on the darkness it will help. then durring the day put on some cover up. i am happy with the results. i noticed a dramatic reduction in my bags i hope this helps some one.
#60 - Ashley - 11/22/2008 - 18:33
why would anyone put garlic under their eyes, honestly, or Pee. If it sounds that dramatic, dont fall for it. Thats disgusting. Consult your doctor if youre that extreme. Ive been using concealer for the past while but now looking for home remedies. And btw, dont you think coffee would make the circles DARKER, not take them away!
#61 - Dar - 12/10/2008 - 02:40
this isnt so much a home made remedy but, using a yellow concealer when applying makeup around the eyes is very effective accept dab it on because if you rub it in than it will enhance your cirlces. then apply your natural concealer to blend it in.
i have it dark circles all around my eyes and i am lookin for something natural to experiment with but this is good for now untill something comes along.
and for that comment about pee? are u serious? thats kinda werid ... anyone else tried it?
#62 - Ammanda - 12/13/2008 - 02:12
I can't provide a home remedy but when it comes to makeup, I've mastered quick, simple, and 100% effective.

A concealer that is almost white compared to your skin tone... make sure it's not a liquid concealer, but rather, one of those cream ones in a stick or a pot
A tan bronzer

Use your ring finger to pat on concealer (don't rub or you're wasting your time) until it's even all over your dark circle areas. Then take a contour brush and put the bronzer over the under-eye area.

The light concealer and the bronzer work miracles together, cancel out in colour, and in many cases end up with an airbrushed effect.

Always take off your makeup with eye-makeup remover designed for waterproof stuff. It's a bit oily, but you can wash off any residue, and there's less vigorous rubbing on the eye-area.
#63 - Schelle - 12/14/2008 - 10:10
For the dark circles, have tried the age old prescription passed on by my nani
Make a paste of garlic, clove & mint of equal proposition adding to one table spoon. Add lemon & sparow drops of equal proposition to the earlier paste & apply evenly to the eye & upto the nose. This is because the skin stretches on drying. You can also make this paste & add amla (04 pieces) and consume for cleansing. This has worked wonders, try it.

NEVER EVER PUT LEMON JUICE ON YOUR EYES! Seriously, the skin under your eyes is so fragile and as lemon is basically Mother Nature's bleach it is far too harsh. Especially if you have naturally dry skin anyway.

I think whether or not these remedies depends on what has caused the dark circles under your eyes. So if these haven't worked I'd suggested seeing a Beauty Therapist (don't be afraid to ask about his/hers qualifications.) Perhaps your skin is prone to having bags or you need moisture more often or whatever it is.

Naturally this will cost money but these people are trained and shall be knowledgeable about all facets of the skin.

They may advise a product. These products are more often then not expensive. Keep in mind though that unlike supermarket skin ranges these are being sold to a very informed consumer. They have to be clincally tested and contain concentrated things like Vitiam A which doesn't come cheap. Most home remedies are effective because they contain a lower dosage of vitiams or whatever naturally. This isn't really helpful if your problem isn't completely average.

What I do when see a Beauty Therapist after the treatement is I ask for a sample. Why should I be spending money without first hand evidence? I also find out what the active ingredient is and see if other skin care companies sell a similar product for cheaper. Make sure that it doesn't contain alcohol as this will ruin the skin in the long run. (Like ProActive which rids the skin of pimples by completely robbing of it's natural oils which can lead to early wrinkles.)

Also ask about natural or cheaper remedies. I have to be careful with mine as I have very fragile skin. So I explained that I really can't afford anything. I was thus advised to always wear sunscreen and told about a rather cheap effective mask which can be made at home.

If the Beauty Therapist doesn't help complain about them to your friends so no one will go there. hahaha
Then see a Doctor and find out if the problem is caused by a lack of iron or whatever. Or perhaps ask your local chemist if they still any treatments and which one rated the best in clinical tests.

You can do something by making yourself informed about the cause of the problem and researching the various solutions.

I don't whether or not that was helpful but I hope it was. Good luck in banishing those bags!

#73 - ankitha - 01/10/2009 - 02:38
Before you do anything FIRST get a good herbal detox to clense your colon and a parasite removal herb combination. Take this for about 3 to 4 weeks. Along with this, add iron, a multi vitamin with enyzmes and extra Vit C will help clear this up over time. Good nutrition is vital to your health so eat veggies and fruit too. You can try those external remedies but this is an internal problem.

I'm so mad. My classmates always tease me about the dark circles around my eyes and the bags. I go to sleep very early and wake up late. One of my close friends tell me that i should put spoons in the freezer and put it under my eyes, but i dont think that will work. I want something that works well and almost instantly or instantly for that matter. I also want something that will be easy and quick to make. I want something that i can put on my darkcircles and bags at night and when morning comes its gone or almost gone.
#75 - chpinky08 - 01/15/2009 - 15:37
The Avon cream doesn't work. I've tried it for the past few weeks with no results.

I'm going to try the cucumber thing.
#76 - MsLady - 01/18/2009 - 14:38
apply cold ta bags and potato juice.will work wonders.try not to touch that area often.the skin there is soft so you need to be really really gentle.i don't think using flour under your eyes is a good idea.as flour when gets dry hardens...and anything which is hard and dries shouldn't be used under your eyes as the skin around that area is really really soft.it will only give you wrinkles later in life..drink a lot of water.don't rub your eyes, try not to squint, war shades whenever you are out and about in the sun.almond oil is a good option.but don't apply it during the day .apply a good under eye cream.
#77 - muskan - 01/29/2009 - 11:57

it seems like everyone is getting these..and i thought i was the only one.
but PLZ PLZ PLZ if anyone gets a good remedy that is natural, doesn't need tons of stuff, and one that ACTUALLY WORKS Plz tell me!!! Thanks..
#78 - rach - 02/05/2009 - 11:15
I dont like having bags and dark circles under my eyes , mostly on school days so heres what i do ,

1. Go to bed at 9:30 the latest.

2. Get a warm flannel or cloth and lay on your eyes untill it goes cold.

3. Rub some Mouisturiser around the dark circles in a circular mosian.

3. Get at lease 9 hours sleep.

4. In the morning slip on Some plain teabags to reduce the bags.

5. Your eyes will feel dry so slip on two slices of cucumber to freshen them up, it will also brighten up your eyes, also you could dry brightening drops if you need to.

6. Get some concealer and try your best to blend it in and dab some pressed powder over the top.

7. Also you could try some brown eyeliner which will make your dark circles less noticable.

Hope this helps! Good luck x

I don't have a remedy, I am looking for one, all of these may be great, but I think that I will try the fishoil capsule and see what happens, I have had dark circles as long as I can remember and I have been using concealor, but am looking for something to eliminate them if possible, if the fishoil works, I will let you know
#80 - Pahlee - 02/16/2009 - 18:01
Hey my fellow dark circle victims! I looked at this site and I can honestly say the most helpful would have to be the fish oil capsules. I am 32 of age and developed dark circles under my eyes at the age of 20. Since then I always have on makeup. I sleep in my makeup!!! I have been to several dermatologists and spent alot of money on products that DO NOT WORK!! I am now trying the fish oil capsules (piercing through the capsule)and apply under the eye area. I also oredered a free sample of IQ Derma. I have been using this method twice a day for 1 month now and I have noticed that my dark circles have lighten about 50%. I also had my DR to write me a RX for 4% hydroquinone. I have been using this in addtion to the fish oil and IQ derma. I am also going to start taking the fish oil capsules orally. I am desperate to find the cure and I feel that I am well on the way with this one. I have a 12 year old son and I pray that he doe's not inherit these awful circles as he is a male and will not have the option of cover up. so I am determined to fine a cure if he ever needs it. Also, if you order the IQ derma they offer a free trial and you just have to pay shipping and handling. The catch is they will bill you for the amount of the next order on your credit card, usually around 89.00. If this is ok with you then fine, for those who can't afford it make sure you cancel within the time frame and be aware then as well, as I have had companies to bill me early. The best thing to do is to purchase a prepaid visa or matercard through green dot and you can get these at CVS or Walmart...pay 9.95 plus the amount you wish to load and order with this card. That way your safe and secure!! Good luck to you all and I will update this month by month! As a little motivation...Everything worth having that is good takes time. So, be patient and don't give up, most of these remedies will not work over night. But, if you give it time you may see some results. ;-)

Iv'e had dark circles since I was about 2, i'm 13 now. All these cures sound really good it's just that most of them really aren't around in the house. I need a really simple recipe that works and is comprised of everyday products. Would crushed ice work mixed with whatever work, since it would have the cold factor as well as the pasty stuff above?
#82 - loosethegoose - 03/28/2009 - 03:48
I also have had extremely bad dark circles for as long as I can remember. I'm only 19 now and i'm tired of jus "covering up" the problem. i need a true solution! I've tried several different products like facial creams, skin brighteners, eye creams, skin bleaches, etc. I've even tried Hylexin (which was $100 and made specifically for dark circles & was supposed to be guaranteed to work) & even that didn't work. I'm glad to know other ppl suffer with this problem besides me. Fourtunantly for me it never really had the opportunity to mess up my life. I've always been popular and considered to be very attractive. I never allowed anyone to c my little problem, and that had been fine for tha last couple of years. I just used my cover up & went along with my day to day life. Until resently, when my boyfriend of a year 1/2 decided to ask y he's nvr seen me w/out it. I didn't kno what to say so I just kinda played it off like i don't really need it & stuff like that. BC i know he loves me but if he knew about it i'm affraid that he would leave. But i feel trapped! like i'm a prisoner to it bc i can never leave the house without it & i mean NEVER! i really feel sad bc i get tired of feeling like i have to look a certain way or i won't be excepted or won't get as much attention. I really had given up hope and had even considered laser surgery. But I'm going to try some of your suggestions & really hope they work. Overall i just really wanna be able to look in the mirror and see me! the REAL me without this one horrible problem. -thanx for all ur suggestions:-)
#83 - Maylana - 04/01/2009 - 10:33
On 2/23/09 I placed a comment on #82......Today is april 7th and while my circles haven't completely gone away they are over 50% improved. I also added another regimen with Oil of olay microdermabrasion treatment. I used this twice a week and I really think that with the fish oil capsules and 4% hydroquine.. it has helped! For some reason I feel that the fish oil has more of an effect. I know I have never had better results with anything else that I have tried. Maylana, I can really relate to you I am Very attractive and people tell me all the time how gorgous I am and it makes me sad because I think to myself "If they only knew what was under my makeup!" I don't like to take trips or let my family and friends see me first thing in the morning because they ask me why do I still have on makeup! It's heartbreaking. I can now feel a little more comfortable showing my face at home since I have been using this method. But, I have yet to show anyone.
#84 - Finding a answer - 04/07/2009 - 21:33
seems sad dat so many ppl need remedy for dark circles but d most economical one is.....
take a mixture of milk+turmeric powder+lemon juice=remedy for dark circles....IT NOT JUST LESSEN'S D DARCIRCLES BUT ALSO CLENSES THE FACE...........;-);-);-);-);-);-)

Could waking up in the middle of the night every night to goto the bathroom cause dark circles by interrupting the sleeping cycle???
#86 - Josef - 04/15/2009 - 10:46
Ok, i've been using the fish oil and almond oil for a few weeks now, but i haven't seen any improvement just yet. my only question is WHERE CAN I FIND ALMOND OIL? that stuff is extremely hard to find! i've jus been using "almond extract" because it contains almond oil in it. If anyone knows where to find it that would be greatly appriciated
#87 - maylana - 04/16/2009 - 11:29
..........by the way, the almond extract has i burning sensation that last a few seconds and then goes away is this normal? I put it on other parts of my face but it doesn't have that burning sensation on any other areas. confused.....
#88 - maylana - 04/17/2009 - 11:13
My dark circles are horrible, where can I find gram flour?
#89 - sdutch13 - 04/18/2009 - 06:56
Dear #88... you can find Almond Oil at almost any vitamin store such as GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe... its usually under $10 for a 16oz bottle... just make sure its 100% pure and not lotion... to be most effective
#90 - JLO - 04/19/2009 - 22:30
you can also find almond oil at amost any health food store, they have loads of essential oils. and don't use extract! it has alcohol in it, thus explaining your complaint of burning. i just bought some today and i'll see how it goes. oh and as for covering up, i find concealer doesn't work for me. i have very fair thin skin so if you are like me, i sometimes use a little (and i mean a pretty small amount) white eyeshadow. it reflects the light off of your dark circles and gives your eyes a brighter look. but only do this if you're uber pale, like moi.
#91 - DED - 04/20/2009 - 20:05
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
baking powder
1/6 cup oil (soy)
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 t vanilla

mix dry ingredients
add oil and water
add eggs
pour in pan
bake medium heat

I have had dark circles for as long as I can remember and I am 22 now. This won't cure them but it hides them!

What you will need:
*orange lipstick (matte with no shimmer)

First apply a moisturizer all around your eye. Then dab a very small amount of the orange lipstick on the dark circles. Next use your concealer over the orange (you can also use it on your eyelid which makes your eyeshadow last a lot longer). Lastly you lightly apply a powder foundation over the concealer under the eye.

Hope this works for some of you!

i can so relate to you guys...i have dark circles...i didnt have them growing up so dont know wat caused them....but once doctor told me that im low on iron so maybe that is the cause...i started eating total ceral which has 100% iron...for the ppl who are using hydroquine you should really read the information that is out for that product...many countries have banded that product so i doubt its really safe...it can cause cancer so plz dont use that.... ive been searchin for a solution...im 23 years old and i hate when ppl point them out...i tired puttin makeup to cover them up but it always makes them look worse...i have tired creams but havent seen a big difference...i think i will try the fish oil capsules...i really hope it works...ill post an update if it makes any difference
#102 - kirstin - 06/09/2009 - 21:46
I hear many of you talking about cost..and as some of these are effective over a period of time...let me explain exactly what causes dark circles and how to rid youself of them in a short time...

OK...the thin skin under your eyes are loaded with tons of capolaries..tiny veins that contain blood of course...and what happens is...blood escapes from these and rise to the surface...much like a bruise

NOW...a quick, free and easy fix is simple...while your watching your favorite TV show...use 1 or 2 fingers and tap around the eyes..what this does is 1. Increases blood flow and 2. will loosen the blood cells that are sitting under the skin...do this for 20-30 mins depending on the severity of the circles.

AFTERWARDS....your eyes will feel hot or warm...this is good...now take a wash cloth and run it under hot water...dont burn yourself...wring it out..but leave damp...lay back and place on your eyes...when cloth begins to cool...flip it over and use other side...what this does is the heat from the cloth..expands the veins, and also loosens the blood cells stuck benieth the skin...also the warmth with bring color (redish, pink) around your eyes...also helping to eliminate the darkness.

NEXT...take that wash cloth..and run it under cold water....and lay back and place on your eyes...what this does..is now that your veins are expanded..and the blood under the skin is active and moved away from the skin...when you apply the cold cloth...this shrinks the veins...preventing blood to get to the surface...maintaining the work you have done previously with the warm cloth...when cloth warms...flip over and use other side...

FINALLY...apply lotion (or even better, use a hemroid cream) what this does is tighten and moisturizes the skin...reducing bags under the eyes...

ok, so i've been on this website ah couple times reading about these so called 'remedies'. i ddnt have all the ingredients of some remedies so i ddnt try them. then i came across the fish oil capsules & i found some gelcapsules in my cabinet. it was Vitamin A that contained fish oil. i got ah small pill & pierced through it with ah knife. through the small hole, i squeezed it all out to my palm. i applied it to my dark circles [all of it] & massaged them for ah while until it wasnt so oily. my left eye'z 'dark circle' was always ah little lighter then the one on my right eye. i've used this method three times & my left eye one is almost completely gone, while the dark circle on my right eye has been getting lighter. its still noticeable, but much less than before. oh, im 14 years old by the way :). i've also been drinking ah lot more water than before - that seems to be helping as well. i've also noticed that this fish oil has made my skin smoother [i have applied it all over my face & forehead - not jut my dark circles] & it has made ah great improvement. i dnt get acne, but i had one on my forehead & it went away as well. this method is amazing! i will continue doing this & i'll update again! you must try this! best of luck!

I\'ve been using the fish oil and almond oil everydaY and sometimes twice a day, since April 1st. Mostly at night and in the morning. At first I was seeing very slight improvement but now it seems exactly the same with no improvement at all. It seems that the main problem area is the inner corners of the eyes. Its been almost 3 months now so I doubt that it will get any better. I heard about this new cream thats been advertised \"hydrolize\" has anyone tried it or know anything about it?? I just wanna find out some info & get some opinions about this stuff before I try it. Positive or negative feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanx....

#111 - Maylana - 06/28/2009 - 21:47
I was trying olive oil and sugar mixed together for dry skin. Used just before you get out of the shower, then rinse it works. I decided to scrub my face with it. I was surprise that it lighten up the dark circles under my eyes. Fast results but not completely gone until a couple times.
#112 - Brenda - 06/30/2009 - 08:38
I'm also 13 and I have dark bags under my eyes. I thought I was the only thirteen year old, cause my friends don't have them, but obviously I'm not. I want them to go away so badly. They are caused from many different things. Mine came about two or so years ago, or one, and my mom said it could be that I need sleep, go to bed earlier. I know that's why I have dark circles, because after I came back from vacation last year, I started going to bed earlier. And like in about a week they started clearing up. But I can't keep that up unfortunately. I keep falling asleep like after eleven. So what I know is that I need to push myself to go to bed earlier, and use some of these remedies also. I also use fish oil capsules, poke it with a pin, and rub it under my eyes before I go to bed. I'm not a persistent person, so I didn't keep doing that, so it didn't work. So now I'll put the fish oil capsule under my eyes more often and consistently. I'll also use the cucumbers and tea bags. Thanks so much everyone. Hope something works for you guys, and for me.

Some of the comments here are useful but I must say I think there is a lot of confusion as to the difference between darks circles and bags under the eyes. Dark circles are much easier to hide, eyebags and eye puffiness are not !
Cucumber, ice packs, gel masks, tea bags are likely to slightly improve puffiness or bags, but don't make any difference to dark circles.
For both problems drinking lots of water and having a good diet will help.

#123 - ashley - 08/25/2009 - 18:25
I have to say that many comments aren't neccessary. If you have a solution, post it, please. If you only want to say that things are crappy, don't. And a healthy diet doesn't mean you won't have the problem, it is genetic and not something you can just eat better to make go away.
However, I've tried several of the solutions posted here, and they DO WORK!!!! But not every single one of them will work for every person so be patient and just keep trying new ideas.
Best Wishes to all the beautiful women out there!!!
#124 - Tiffany - 08/27/2009 - 02:41
before looking @ a way 2 aleviate the problem we have to work backwards and look @ the cause - many times the dark circles r a result of a food sensitivity - removing milk, caffeine, and meat from the diet took my racoon look away - along with a long bout with acne - remove things one by one - or do a rotation

Who r YOU to tell ppl that their comments aren't neccessary?? They can post whatever they want. But positive as well as negative feed back IS "neccessary". Positive-so other ppl can try too & negative-so ppl won't waste time trying a lot of things that have not really worked. #132 - mounisha - 10/03/2009 - 08:41
Cold used tea bags and cucumber slices deffo. Wash face with luke warm water instead of cold water and a cold spoon on each eye will reduce puffyness as well. Try not to put make up under the eyes like. ;-) xx
#133 - Naomi - 10/04/2009 - 13:10
Dark circles are basically blood pooling underneath your eyes....broken capillaries..they can only be fixed with lasers...however you can minimize the puffiness and the darkness somewhat with home remedies. Try to go to a medical laser aesthetics school and getting it done ..its cheaper because its a school.;-)

DARK Circles is:

GLARE From any monitor devices, like your computer, television, cellphones, hand helds.
Everyone is spending 16 hours a day staring into monitors every day.(even you right now)

Reduce the time you expose your eyes to comp/tv and try home remedies + time and it should go away.
#140 - The Reason - 10/19/2009 - 23:44
I don't think I can speak for everyone, but I found that the best treatment for my dark circles aren't topical (things you put on your face).
What a lot of people don't realize is that sinus problems can lead to dark circles (part of my problem since I have mild allergies), and even how you sleep at night will affect it. I sleep on the right side of my face, and the bag under that eye is significantly worse.
My remedy?
One night I slept with two pillows under my head, so my head was higher than the rest of me, and resolved not to toss and turn. I took some vitamins (I am iron deficient anemic, another cause of dark circles) also took a benadryl for allergies. The next morning, my usually black bags were almost completely gone.
Of course, if I get a cold or sleep funny, or eat terribly, they come back.

tl;dr? Basically, the most effective cures are going to be lifestyle changes, not topical treatments. Sleep with your head up, get enough iron, eat right and get rid of allergies. Cheap and effective. :)

I am 34 years old and I am sufferring from Nail Fungul in my both toe of my feets from last 4 years, but by applying combination of tea tree oil, olive oil and eycluptus oil on the infected toe daily after washing properly with warm water, I got tremdendous benifit in my toe and now my toe is completely infection free. So, please apply the same formula for any kind of nail fungul. Thanks.

I failed to mention in my last post that I do sleep on my right side a lot and it seems my right eye is a little more darker circle than the left and is a bit more puffier, maybe the head elevation thing might work I'll let the forum know if it does.

Dear Amanda,
My son has got the same problem as you. Dark circle around the eyes. My mother gave a very good home remedy which worked for him. Take a pinch of powdered milk, mix with a little water and spread in well under your eyes before bedtime. Wash in the morning. Best of Luck.

#152 - simab - 11/29/2009 - 11:56
What's the logic behind taking fish oil capsules that will help you with dark circles. Fish oil dilates blood vessels substantially and the only thing it can do is to dilate the blood vessels under the eyes and make them even more visible and therefore dark circles even worse. Am I wrong, and if so why?
#153 - Kent - 11/30/2009 - 19:58
I have been researching on ways to remove the toxins from your body, and your skin. You never want to put anything on your skin that you cannot consume. What you put into your skin, is absorbed into your blood stream, and goes through your body. I get my research tips from Earth Clinic's website. If you do a search for it you will find it. I am seeing that the most success comes from apple cider vinegar(ACV for short). When you first start to put this on your face, and under your eyes, you need to dilute it in equal parts with water. Use it everyday, and you WILL see results. People have testimonies saying it has removed age spots, eczema, acne, but that's not all! After a your skin is used to the apple cider vinegar, you may use it full strength, undiluted. Some may notice peeling of dead skin after use but this is normal. You can use it in the shower, as well as on your scalp, any part of your skin. Apply using cotton pads, cotton balls, or cotton cloth. It will dry, or you can leave on and rinse your face later. You can also supplement yourself by taking a teaspoon of ACV, and adding it to your water or tea. You can do this a frequently as you refill your drink. Adding a tiny pinch of sea salt helps for better absorption. Add in your favorite sweetener, but stay away from aspartame. Better results follow if you are using ORGANIC apple cider vinegar(made from organic apples). There are many other benefits of using ACV besides the ones I have mentioned. All the ones everyone has contributed are GREAT, but if you want to see OPTIMAL results in a shorter amount of time, try APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. Hope this helps some people out! GOOD LUCK and may you get the best results!

My dark circles are genetic; most of my dad's side of the family has them. Nothing has worked and not even concealer does the trick. Concealer only lightens the darkness a bit. As I type this, I'm trying potato skin under my eyes. I'll let you know if this works.

>-( stop with the makeup tips, the poo, the garlic and all that nonsense. PLEASE! sorry what i means is makeup doesn't remove the "bag" or deepness of the circles just the darkness, poo wth? and garlic will just burn your skin. Does anyone have something that will make those eye circles vanish/disapear/erase. It has to work in min:one day max: one and a half month or maybe 2. I know i sound demanding but this has caused me low self esteem and it's extremely decouraging to try methods that aren't even effective or tested by whoever made it up. Don't give me some random "I think it will work, or i heard it works, or my friend said" kind of tips :-( please.
#158 - WakywakyGirl - 12/19/2009 - 21:46
Hi all...fade out cream works real well but it does kinda soften the skin underneath sooo...honey under the eye works wonders (thats a good priced active honey)...lemon juice is also great, but it STINGS!!! Messaging olive oil is awesome for the skin overall in keeping it looking younger and supple. As a life style try drinking freshly extracted juice every morning, afternoon, evening and night; apple, carrot, pear, grapes etc...(at a minimum try drinking up to a litter to 2 litters) seriously the effect on your skin is mind blowing, the compliments just doesnt stop coming!!! It only takes a small investment on a good juicer for great skin!!! Hope this help...g

#161 - DEE - 01/07/2010 - 10:50
I am only 13 years old and I have pretty bad dark circles all my life. If you have had dark circles under your eyes and nothing seems to work, I'd see the doctor and ask for an allergy testing. I did, and found out I had allergies. I use nasal spray and other common allergy remedies. Some people my age stay up too late or stare at computer screens for too long, so I reccomend 9 hrs of sleep and 1 or 2 hours a day in front of a screen. The last thing to do is make sure you are healthy and getting enough excersize and please do not take up drugs :( They only make matters worse. Over a few weeks these things really lessen your circles! Also, I use a concealer from Mary Kay. When you use concealer or vitamins under your eyes, make sure to PAT THEM IN, NOT RUB. It really minimalizes the amount you waste. These remedies are not necessary if you just follow the simple guidelines I mentioned, unless you have certain health conditions, but if done correctly, some of them work also.
Best of luck to all. :)Don't let them dang circles ruin your self confidence!

I can symapthise with all you so much, i've had dark circles since I was like 8 and am now 23, i've spent the last few years using concealers and i've had enough, i'm gonna the turmeric and lemon mix (which I used earlier, my face looks 2 shades lighter!) and the fish oil, I don't have the patience to see them through, but I hope I do this time, would be nice to be able to go out in public - i once had a lil girl ask me if i'd painted the black circles on!!

I recommend Dermajuv eye revolution gel. I'm 25 years old and have had dark circles since i was about six years old. My dad has really bad circles and i inherited them from him (both my sisters have them as well). I used dermajuv for a month and it worked wonders ! Its supposed to improve wrinkles, puffy bags and under eye circles. I dont have puffy eyes and really dont have wrinkles so i dont know if it truly works for that but i can honesty that is literally lightened up my dark circles to an amazing degree. The company offers a money back guarantee so it definitely worth trying. I also am a big believer in using herbal supplements to cure the dark circles at their source. Some of the scientifically backed remedies includes these herbs-
1. Diosmin 95
2. Horse Chestnut
3. Butcher's Broom
4. Hesperidin
5. Nattokinase (an enzyme)
6. Taking a few table spoons of "Braggs apple cider vinegar" three times a day diluted in water with (optonal) honey. Hope this helps and good luck !
#177 - Kristena - 03/19/2010 - 22:47
fish oil. try it! i put it on twice like the hour before i went to sleep and woke up with significantly lighter circles. this is coming from the girl who has them for 12 years. oh, and middle-schoolers: don't let your fear of other people's opinions keep you from feeling great about yourself. every woman is beautiful :)

I know what works and i aint kidding either Estee lauder eye recovery night repair does i had to use two bottles because my dark circles were like really really BAD they were the nasty purplish red color. mine are just about gone and also what i do know helps is those frosted mini wheat because of the high ammount of iron it has. I had really bad dark circles since i was like born :( but there is hope out there. try out what i told you and it should work like a charm. I wouldnt try the cucumber stuff because it did nothing for me and niether did the tea bags. Good luck !!! :) i heard fade out works too but only while you use its not long term. Definatly get alot of vitamin C and B6 + Iron in your diet because Somehow it helps.

heal the body from within the body. this is what REALLY works:

equal parts
-ear wax
-toe jam
-belly button fuzz
-tarter (crushed into a powder)
-blood (this is for color and it is optional)

mix into a paste and dab onto affected area. let it sit for exactly 22 minutes a day.

Omg...Just a few months ago I suddenly noticed dark circles around my eyes. I hated it. Didn’t know what to do, but after reading this site I started applying cucumber juice around my eyes with a queue tip. I grated just a small portion of a cucumber (no water added) put in a small container and refrigerate. Every morning and every night I would apply the juice around my eyes. I started to see the difference after about ten days. I can’t believe it really worked.

I have had dark circles my whole life, since I was a baby. It's not always that we're doing something wrong. This is simply genetic. I have thin skin under the eye and therefore the blue of my veins is more visible causing dark circles. Their are products you can buy that thicken the skin under the eye. But it does help to drink alot of water, this way the blood is not too thick and darker. Also if you have certain vitamin deficiencies the capillaries under your eyes weaken which can cause darker circles or little blue lines.

I have had dark circles since I can remember. I have tried sleeping more and some days it looks really dark and other days it looks really light. But overall it still looks bad. How can I fix it to go away permanently?
#204 - liz - 06/02/2010 - 19:54
mujhe black circle hatane hai hamesha k liye..
#205 - seema - 06/04/2010 - 12:29
I simply used Ambi's skincare fade cream, you don't need much so the tube last a long time. The dark circle actually gotten so much lighter before I finished the tube. But I must tell it's not a quick fix it will take several months. But from ready your comments, you've been dealing with this problem for years..so what's a few months. In the meantime purchase a concealor, get creative and check out those make up secrets sites...of how to hide dark circles in the meantime. And don't forget to incorporate a healthy diet. Also check to see it maybe for only for certain skin type.

Hey gang,

Please don't put lemon juice or any harsh, acidic ingredients near your eyes (tomato juice, etc.) Your vision is valuable!

Dark circles are often the result of 1) genetics, and 2) allergies. Very seldom, 3) lack of sleep. Dehydration will cause sunken eyes, not dark circles.

Fix: 1) concealer. 2) ANTIHISTAMINE (Claritin, Zyrtec, etc.) I'm talking over the counter, pill form, antihistamine allergy medication. 3) concealer, more sleep.

Seriously, most of the time, this is allergies. Try an OTC antihistamine like Claritin and see if your circles improve. If you find that certain times of year (fall, spring) your circles are worse, then allergies are most likely the culprit, especially in young girls.

Hope this helped! :)

Hi... I'm 14 and I've had dark circles under my eyes ever since I was little. My dad's side of the family have dark circles, but my mom's side doesn't. My parents are divorced and don't have very much money at all, and I was wanting a remedy that is cheap and quick. I get plenty of sleep and drink plenty of water, so I need a little something extra. I've read most of the comments above, but they sound too expensive. If someone has a remedy that uses common-household items or foods, it would really help. Just e-mail me at [email protected] or post it after my comment. Thanks and have a great day(:

I am 14, and i am on some medication, treating my asthma, and allergies. I drink lots of water and I get at least 8 hours of sleep everyday, but I still have dark circles inder my eyes. It is so annoying cuz everything I have tried does not work. I will try some remedies, but I dont have the money to go and buy a lot of what is needed. HELP PLEASE!!!
#210 - sheri - 06/17/2010 - 12:59
Me and my mum both have dark circles and need something that works the most because they are really annoying. does lemon juice affect the eye? coz it is acidic and could damage the eye sight?
#211 - jazz - 06/21/2010 - 08:21
I have had dark circles since I was young as well. I can see them as dark as they are now in pictures of when I was three. My parents do not have dark circles at all, and I get a constant 6 hours of sleep a night, I couldn't sleep more if I tried. I know the only word for them is [@]. They really affect your self esteem about your looks. So I can give my advice, but keep in mind you need to find your own remedy because different things work for different people.

First you need to realize there is no quick, permanent fix for dark circles. They are popped blood vessels. So you need to be gentle with your skin. Never rub your eyes.

For removing the color, I find that crushing two aspirin tablets and one benadryl allergy ( I have chronic allergies and benadryl gets rid of swelling, so this will help with those who have puffy eyes as well), and add a little bit of water until its pasty. put ALL of it on your eye and let it sit there until it stops tingling. It isn't quick by any means, it takes about two weeks to start seeing great results.

I would say avoid beauty products. They are expensive and generally don't work.

For people who just recently got dark circles, cucumbers could work fairly well.

I would just say experiment with your own skin, and to avoid expensive products because they will most likely waste your money.

Good luck.

Hi Ladies...

I'm 24 & in cosmetology school studying to be an Esthetician. I have really bad, dark circles under my eyes sometimes in the mornings. Mine is from ALLERGIES. A lot of people have this problem too and don't realize it. Ask your doctor if you have bad allergies what you can take for them. I take over the counter benadryl. Don't put anything but moisturizers and eye creams that are MEANT for the eye area! You can also put spoons in the freezer and apply them to your eye... it helps the swelling.

Good luck! :)

I got the dark circles under my eyes when i was about the age of 12. Usually it happens if your anemic, but you can get it genetically too. I heard if your anemic and have the dark circles under your eyes, you should eat more things that have iron in them, it should help after a while. If it doesn't using frozen cucumber slices on your eyes helps too. At least it did to me.

I am 35 years old and have had dark circles, as long as, I can remember. The only thing I have ever tried was Hydrolyze. It was very expensive, but I figured it had to work, being that it was advertised by Dermatologists? I figured it had to work, being that the network put it out there, basically as a promise that it would? Well, unfortunately, I was naive. My dark circles, appeared darker. I am a good looking woman and I love the way the rest of my eyes look. I have written down every home recipe and starting tonight, I am going to begin testing. I am real and honest and I shall share my experiences with you all! Please follow me through my new endeavor. I'm not only doing this for myself, but for my children. They think I am always sick or tired and their friends think I'm "hot", but "old"? Everyone that I run into, always ask if I'm tired or not feeling well? The only thing I'm tired of are these circles!!! The only thing that makes me ill, is the depression! Here we go! I'll keep you posted!

I'm 13 and i have dark circles under my eyes :(
I created a remedy that helps me :)
You will need...
-2 tea bages
-a microwave safe cup
-a towel
- and honney
Lay a towel on your bed , couch , or even the ground if u would like . Fill the cup with a inch of water . Next , get the 2 tea bags and rub honey on one side of each bag . Place the bag in the cup with waterand put it in the microwave for 40 seconds on high or 80 seconds on low . While that is going on ... Wash your face with a cleanser and dab a papertowel on your face to get it damp .Once the tesa is done in the microwave ... dab the tea all over your face while you cool the tea bags for 5-10 seconds . Then , lay down with your head on the towel and place the tea bags on your eyes for 10-15 minutes . Once this is done if the tea on your face is not dry hold it close to a fan or a air vent for a few seconds ... Last but not least ... Wash your face with cool water and dry off ... the effect will come within a week :) Hope this helps !

#227 - jesse - 08/21/2010 - 13:42
I run cross country in high school and I've had this problem for about a year. If you play sports or excercise a lot, you lose a lot of iron through sweat. I read that low iron levels can sometimes cause the darkness and bags. I went to the doctor and it turns out my iron level was about 4 times lower than what it should be. Now im on a daily supplement and they are slowly going away. This is probably because iron takes a bit to build up in your body. Hope this helps :)

#231 - kavita - 08/31/2010 - 02:54
People have dark circles for all different reasons. The trick is finding the right solution for YOU, and here's the best way to do that:

1. Stick to ONE remedy at a time! If you try a bunch of things at once you're not going to know exactly which remedy worked for you.
2. Try each one at least 2 weeks, or longer if you can. From my experience there isn't any remedy out there that works overnight (except make-up).
3. Take a picture of your dark circles before you start a remedy, and then take one after a while and compare objectively.
4. Start with the easiest remedy first. If you're broke, try drinking lots of water first. If you think you may have an allergy, try an antihistamine first.

I wish that the people who were trying things from the previous posts would come back to let us know how it worked.
I'm going to try to remember to come back - I am going to try Benadryl (antihistamine) since none of the other remedies are working for me.

I am a 15 year old male, i am 2 months from being 16. ive had dark circles under my eyes since at least 11-12 years old. i have also had an insomnia problem since about that time as well. i do drink achohol and i drink at least a 44oz dr pepper every week. i have alot of stress in my life and i have slight depression. i am a smoker as well. i noticed a few websites say these can all contribute to dark circles. what remedy would you recomend me trying first? and how long would i continue my treatments in that remedy
#234 - Mike - 09/03/2010 - 06:27
Lauren, I also have tried everything including tea bags, vitamin K cream, and just about everything else suggested here. I've been taking antihistamines for a week and I have finally been getting some results. It's slow but it keeps getting better. The only other thing that worked for me was drinking water but I HATE drinking water plus it only made the dark circles a little bit better, no matter how much I drank! I will come back next week to let you know how Benadryl is going.

Also Mike, you should see a psychiatrist to help you with the insomnia, stress, depression and underage drinking. Maybe once you get that taken care of, the dark circles will go away. You're too young to have all those problems but there are a lot of ways you can treat it.
#235 - Kara - 09/07/2010 - 10:42
I'm thirteen years old and I have VERY noticeable dark circles under my eyes. It is such a pain in the butt to have because everybody asks me if i'm high! But im not. I get enough sleep & all, but the dark circles bring my look waaay down. I just want them to go away so I can have a bright, fresh look to my face & not have people ask me if i'm really tired because i am sick of it!
#236 - A - 09/12/2010 - 00:41
I'm 19 and I have really bad bags. I'm going to try some of these remedies, I just hope they'll work. So thanks for the tips, and to everybody out there with the same problem good luck!
#237 - Nez - 09/15/2010 - 16:11
I'm writing again to let everyone know that after 2 weeks on an antihistamine (first it was benedryl but I switched to Claratin) my dark circles are going away! They are only about 70% better but I've had dark circles for almost 20 years now so I'm not surprised it's taking so long.
I just want to add that I can breathe fine so I never thought I had an allergy but there you have it. I also read people can get allergic reactions - including sinus & eye reactions - from eating certain foods so I'm thinking that's what's wrong with me.
If you have dark circles and you have health insurance and I strongly suggest you go to the doctor and get checked for allergies - including wheat and other foods. I know that's what I would do if I had health insurance...good luck!

I have been on it for a week and although my eyes are getting lighter it is not completely finished so I'm gunna keep at it.. any questions just ask and i will try and remember to come on here and answer them. I can tell you I don't take care of my body, drink too much, I don't eat good healthy foods, drink 6 sodas a day too,, rarely exercise, and think I have sleep apnea like my dad. I truly believe if I took the steps to make a life change and run my body cleaner and healthier I wouldn't have these terrible circles under my eyes.. I thought I was the only three year old with dark circles. That fortunately never affected my romantic life, I blame my sharp tongue for that, but I had actually had people trying to recruit my mother to get me into child modeling despite my dark circles, therefor, even though they bother me, clearly they can't be that ugly, right? So currently, I've tried cumber, teabags, and the Garneir roll on and something Loreal made that I lost the label to, and I didn't work anyway. Then I thought I'd be wild, and used Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer that I had already and is loaded with mint, and it lightened them to a soft pinkish purple instead of a blueish bruise purple. I only did this today, so it may not work long term, but if you let it sit till the tingle goes away, it may help reduce the severity of color before you try cover-up.

I only recently started using cover-up because I had a hell of a time finding one that's rosy and pasty at the same time. Before that the color was always way too dark or way too yellow, but the Hard Candy Nobody's Perfect pallet was just right so I can just apply a dab around my eyes right before I put on eyeshadow for makeup days.

If you can't find your color, or don't want to, consider this: Edward Cullen has masive dark circles and millions think he's [@]y anyway. I also had good luck rocking gothic style, wich works even better if you leave your dark circle as is, and can help you find someone who thinks you are hot just the way you are. The right style of glasses for your face can also help hide the dark color.

As far as guys in makeup, I think it's hot(especially eyeliner), but some would call it gay. If you don't care, more power to you, but if you are already a target of jerks with big mouths, you may not want to add to the ammunition they already have.

I don't know that almond oil dose anything for dark circles, but it's a wonderful after bath moisturizer. Save money and skip getting it from the heath food store though, and go to the grocery store instead. Look in the cooking oil section, and you can get a decent sized bottle for $4-$6 bucks, and rubbing down once a weak, that should last about a year.

Lastly, I had a lot of trouble reading many comments because apparently many people are too lazy to type all the letters of a word. Trust me, it's Ok to use all the vowels.

Hey all you folks with dark circles .. I so glad I found this thread . I have dark circles I am 28 and recently gave up smoking. YEY. I am now trying to get these dark circles to lighten up a bit. I mean I was an idiot to smoke for 9 yrs, but hope that I can get these circles to go away or at least lighten by half would be good enough. I am taking vitamin c, a mulit-vitamin and dont drink sodas. .I do drink coffee but will stop because I hear it makes them worse so instead I will get caffiene from green tea and i hear it is helpful for the lungs and oxygen whicj could help circulation under the eyes. And for those who smoke I would say from my experience that your face circulation improves alot after the 1st wk of quitting . I hope it only gets better.

I have decided to take pictures as one user suggested for before and after to see which remedy is effective and do the ten day test. Also I have decided that the lemon, honey, flour is what I WILL try to reduce the dark circle as its getting the most postive results in the thread from multiple people. Well I hope to let you know what works in a month or so..goodluck everyone!

I know its been around forever so my mom reccommended it and said it help her anemia/fatigue during pregnancy better that capsules of iron. But I also realized that alot of stress has been in my life and that makes them worse to. I am going to just feel more blessed that my biggest worry is only superficial and I am a beautiful person . I will look for the answers internally and feel more energy and hopefully you all will as well

I just recently notice that the circles under my eyes have become darker this past year.. I have read a lot of your comments and found them to be very interesting.. Hey, i'm 13 and i have issues with dark circles under my eyes! i have had them since forever and they are visible in every picture of me when i was younger. The only thing i have tried before is *placing cotton wool soaked in warm milk and honey under my eyes for 10 mins" (and wash face afterwards), although i think cold milk would be better. This works if you do it every night, and get at least 8 hours of sleep, its also cheap and easy.

Fish oil is very smelly so if you don't like it you could substitute evening primrose oil. It comes in capsules at health food stores or in the vitamin aisle. After reading all the posts, I am going to try cucumber, lemon juice, and tea with using the oil as a moisturizer. I am 41 and have had dark circles my whole life. There is no quick fix but a daily habit can help. To all the young girls and teens, you are beautiful no matter what - just remember that!!

Hemorrhoid cream helps a little... I'm 16 and I've had verrry dark circles under my eyes since I was about four. I started using the cream about a year ago, and they got a little less dark within a week... But they never got even close to going away.

Here are some rememdies that DO work , but they take a while ( a few weeks) and you have to do them most nights :( But unless your going to have surgery or use expensive creams () These are the best ways.
2 THIN cucumber slices overyour eyes for 15 mins.
COLD teabags over your eyes for 15mins
Raw potato slices/ gratings
also watch some videos on utube for good ideas ;) My dark circles are AWFUL but when i use these methods , they start fading :) :D

Hope this helps ;)

Dark circles are caused by many underlying problems. Low iron levels, poor sleep patterns, and allergies are the main reasons. 1- GREEN TEA BAGS with CAFFEINE while they're still warm over eyes for 10 mins. 2- Take care of allergies ( you can get simple allergy pills at dollar store) 3- Less sugar and more PROTEIN is important. 4- Sleep 6 hrs. every night and if you can get a nap or at least lie down flat and put your feet up for 20-30 mins. daily if possible. Sugar helps with plumping the skin under the eyes too! Use banana, apple, or other natural sugar. I use these every day and the only time I have this problem now is after my monthly.
#285 - Susan - 02/20/2011 - 08:09
I'm 25 with hardly any trace left that I once had dark circles under my eyes... Yet back in high school, it seems I had the worst case of them.

Apply Holy Water under the eyes with the tips of your finger and pray nightly. Have faith and you shall be healed of this blemish.

#293 - Heyy - 03/22/2011 - 14:22
I hate hearing dark circles described as if it were a disease or something. Sometimes, like in my case, it's just plain hereditary. My skin has always been dark under my eyes. I do not have worms or a nutritional deficiency, and I've always drank plenty of water and gotten plenty of sleep, for the most part.

Why risk hurting the eyes you see with by putting acidic stuff like tomato juice to the skin on your eyes?

Try to accept and love yourself the way God made you! Dark skin under your eyes does NOT make you ugly. Be kind, loving, and gentle, look out for the needs of others and consider them above yourself and everyone will see you as beautiful. What you see in the magazines is NOT true beauty. True beauty is real people behaving in a comely fashion.

I've had dark circles since as long as I can remember, I am 40. I have been told the skin under the eyes is the thinnest and the veins are shadowing through I have tried everything including $200 eye cream. Nothing worked Save your $. The ONLY thing to date that has worked has been potato! Cut thin slices shaped like a C tipped on its side ( the rounded part on bottom the straight part directly under your eyes..scratch the potato good with fork or knife to get the juices flowing, now place under each eye and relax for 15-20 min. it is not permanent but you will see an instant improvement!
PS The best concealer to date is Keromask by Christy (Pricey and sold in UK or Burts bees sold in many grocery stores )

Everyone please listen up. There is a product called "eyelastin" that absolutely works amazing. I had to get it off eBay but please google and read about it and you'll think the same way I do about it. I've tried all the remedies and nothing worked like this product. I actually got the product info from Kelly ripa when I was watching her show.

People overlook the obvious. A lot of times, bags and dark circles are caused by alcohol based cleansing pads on the face, or over consumption of alcohol. Alcohol causes capillary dialation. Caffeine constricts blood vessels, and if you dont want to pay lots of money for caffeine based creams, just wet a paper towl with strong, cold coffee and rub it under the eyes everyday, and stop the alcohol.

Hey i'm 14 and suffering with really really bad dark circles and it is putting my self-steem down :-( BUT i tried using a teabag under my eyes just soak it in hot water but make sure it has cooled place on your eye for 5-10 mins (lie on your back) then slice pieces off cucumber and place them on afterwards for 5 mins (sounds long winded but it really does help) do this regulary B-) :-)
#304 - Aly - 05/22/2011 - 11:44
The quickest way to get rid of bags under eyes would be to use concealer. (not the most natural or best way, but it is the quickest)
The most natural way to get rid of bags under eyes is to know what is causing them ,and based on that use a natural remedy. (not the quickest way ((trust me!!)) but it helps in the long way)
I used to have really dark bags under my eyes. After using these remedies, I was able to reduce them by A LOT!!!
P.S. I tried the cucumber over eyes remedy but it didn't work for me. Try it and see if that works (I doubt it)
If you have any comments or advice for me- just tell me it. Or if you have any more questions just ask me!!!! (no, not really 'cause I'm not an expert on this stuff- just a person sharing experiences) B-)
#305 - Trying to get rid of dark eye circles?!?! - 05/23/2011 - 20:32
hi, I've also been dealing with dark circles for a long time. Like many others, I think I've always had them to some extent. I've done lots of reading on them in the past, so I just wanted to list some of the tips that I think are generally helpful for preventing dark circles from looking worst, even though they are not full remedies. These are some of the tips:
- get a good amount of sleep (7-8 hours is reasonable), but *do not* over-sleep. Sleeping too much seems to make dark circles worse in some cases (and it can make a person feel more tired as well)
- eat a balanced diet, with fruits and vegetables always included whenever possible
- make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet
- try to avoid too much salt or sugar
- when thirsty, choose water whenever possible
- I've read that sleeping with your head slightly elevated can help both dark circles or under eye bags. Try sleeping on a pillow that isn't too flat, see if there is a difference.
- practice deep breathing; this seems to improve circulation and make dark circles appear better
- once in a while, very gently tap around the under eyes with your finger tips; this is also good for circulation
- when waking up, take a cloth and wet it with cool / cold water, and slightly hold against the eye area. Make sure the water is not ice cold or anything, because that would be too harsh for the skin.
- take good care of the skin under the eyes; look into finding an appropriate eye cream that moisturizes the skin in a gentle way without causing irritation.

I also wanted to mention: it's often said that people with dark circles may have thinner skin under the eyes. I guess I tend to believe this is possible too, however, I just wonder why it is that my dark circles seem slightly better in certain odd moments. If the skin under there isn't changing, then i'm not sure what's happening. One time, I was..just watching a bit of tv and sitting on a rocking chair. I went to the bathroom and noticed to my surprise that my dark circles were a lot lighter. I really couldn't figure out what made them lighter on that occasion. I wasn't doing anything that day that I hadn't done before. Then, within an hour or less, they were darker again for some reason : [. Dark circles seem pretty mysterious and hard to understand. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences or advice.

Thank you guys i hope this is going to work. I will try the tea bags first. And maybe at the same time eat food that in inriched with vitamin E. And then the scrub of olive oil and sugar.
I do get enough sleep sometimes i think a bit to much. I sleep around 10 hours at night. :-D i know it is not good to have so much sleep. So was wondering if that could be my problem?
Hope my Husband will see the results and be happy. He to is worried about the circles under my eyes.
Well i've got nothing to loose thank you so much for all the advise...B-)

I have found the cure! First off im 23 i eat healthy exercise often get plenty of sleep and drink lots of water but i have had severe dark circles since i was 12. Its so bad i often wear sunglasses in doors to hide them. I have tried dozens of these home remedies spent hundreds on creams and makeup and miracle 'cures' and have had no change. So a few months ago i went to a health food shop and had a lady test me for food allergies. She told me i was allergic to gluten and told me to stop taking it. well i ignored her advice. About a month ago i went to a different health food shop for severe headaches i get she took a look at my eyes and face and said i was allergic to gluten. Well i went home tossed out everything containing gluten. a few days later my headaches vannished. two weeks on my under eye circles were visibly lighter. a month on they have nearly gone. i am so happy with the results. My skin is brighter, my eye whites are lighter and the acne ive had for years has vanished. ive even lost 3 kgs.
so if you want to get rid of your dark eye circles avoid gluten. its not easy as glutenis in everything. it was even in my daily multi vitamin. also you can get a liver detox to speed things up but they are usually not cheap. what i find best is milk thistle tablets they are cheap and found in most supermarkets and chemist. make sure it hasnt got added gluten. another great and cheap liver detoxer is dandelion root. it brews as a tea and its cheap. try doing this for two weeks. you will be amazed with the results. just dont cheat. i did a few times and i could always tell the next day.

well there you go thats the key to your great skin.
Goodluck :-D

#314 - carrie - 07/05/2011 - 03:37
ok, i used a mixture of several remedies: tumeric powder, flower, honey, and i squeezed the oil from a fish oil gel (that stuff STINKS.). after i rinsed it off, there was a noticeable difference. i didn't have it on very long, though...about ten min, tops....i'm going to keep doing it to see if it continues to look better. i've also always used olive oil under my eyes (my whole face, actually...it does wonders for clearing up acne.) and that definitely helped as well ;-) good luck everyone! (btw...my dark circles are hereditary---the veins sit close to the surface---so they are a pain to get rid of, as they are not simply from lack of sleep/water/nutrition. just thought you should know, especially if yours are the same, and you are skeptical...)

I would just like to take the time to thank everyone for their input and advise about dark circles. I too have been blessed with this unfortunate beauty mark. I am the only one in my family with this problem so I use to tell people that I am from a mixed race african american and panda bear. My sense of humor keeps me laughing which strenghens the muscles around my eyes. I was shocked to read that so many people suffered from dark circles. Maybe we should have a convention or something. I thought I was the only one because when I look at everyone I see that the skin around their eyes match their skin. Totally jealous. I will try all of the tips listed until I see results but meanwhile take my advice -- SMILE. Because it is--

I got this embarrassing black circle ever since I was ten. And it's becoming worst after I did some exercise and got my face sweat.
Now I'm about 40 years old, then this black circle stay on my face seemingly permanently.
Hopefully on this aging period of time, there's still a hope to cure it, at least to ease it...
#328 - soff - 10/15/2011 - 02:03
I'm 44 years old and I've been noticing the dark circles under my eyes are becoming darker and it's not a good feeling at all. It has actually robbed me of some of my self confidence. For the past 2 years I didn't want to admit it to myself or anyone else but I've been a little depressed due to sickness of close family members, poor choices of other family members and some other matters of the heart. Even though I don't like the way alcohol makes me feel, during this time I've been drinking to relax and sleep. The alcohol is not helping anything it's making me more depressed and it only allows 3-4 hours of sleep which isn't much. My problem is that I care a lot for my family and those closest to me and I worry too much about things I have no control over, I want the best for them but I realize they have to want it for themselves. I have to let go and let God because I'm on a pattern of self destruction and that's not what's best for me and it has shown up in my face as shadows under my eyes. My eyes were beautiful 2 years ago and now they look worn. I'm making a vow to start praying and meditating more and taking better care of myself, no more alcohol it's time for me to feel and look better. I'm going to try a combination of the natural remedies like the cucumber, fish oil topically and orally, olive oil, vitamin k and iron supplements and I will get back to you within a month with an update. With some consistency I believe it will work.

Hey guys! Im 13 and I have had black circles since i was young. Im pretty sure my black circles are hereditary cuz my dad has had them. However, I noticed that when im awake past ten for a few nights my eyes look worse. So yah proper sleep is essential. And ive tried many of these recipes.....but never really stuck to doing them daily so im not sure of there results. But i have done the almond oil thing and seemed to help with moisturizing but not reducing the blackness. MOST IMPORTANTLY: DRINK 8-10 GLASES OF WATER A DAY!!!!!! It is the only thing that really works because it cleanses your liver and kidneys which purify your blood and therefore reduce the dark circles under your eyes. I have a hard time drinking that much so i have to remind myself a lot:) Hope this helps!

I've had dark bags under my eyes for years now and I always felt terrible when people told me I looked tired even though I was feeling fine. I've been trying out different eye treatments but nothing seemed to work. No tiny signs of improvement whatsoever. I went to an esthetician to take care of the sun damage on my skin and I asked him what I could do about my eyes. He gave me some sample packets of the Lady Soma Renewal Serum. He said this serum is made just for women.

I tried in that night and it made a huge difference. The bags aren't totally gone but they've really minimized. I'm hoping after a week they will totally go away.

I have tried alot of home remedies and some work to some extent. Some dont work as well as they should. I am skeptical to try any products advertised on the internet but really am at a loss for options. Has anyone heard anything good about this product?

I understand about the dark circles . It makes me look so much older than I am! But sheer cover does work if you get the right shade at bed bath and beyond and then the powder to dust over then a really good moisturizer first and bobby brown concealer at Scott Miller salon , which you only need to use a little bit, does wonders when you are going out. No, unfortunately there are no surgeries out there for dark circles at it is in our genes unfortunately, especially if you are hispanic latino or Italian they are more prevalent. which [@]!!! But their are fillers by Avon (non - surgical which is obviously a temporary fix but they work o.k. I have tried Hylexin and it is very expensive and it takes a while to work but it is a maintenance cream, so very expensive 100.00 to maintain every 2-3 months) or you can go with a dermal filler from Avon. I know all about dark circles, and I don't even drink alcohol or caffeine or smoke, but my relatives have them bad and my mother, so they are inherited..... Good Luck........I struggle with mine everyday but their are ways to make them less visible )

You can also try coconut oil on cotton wool. Use it to rub the dark circle gently in a circular motion in the night and morning as moisturiser and drink a lot of water and sleep well. Eat plenty fruits rich in Vitamins C and E

You should try ground coffee dampened using cold water. Just put it on the darkened area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. This also works for anyone who has cellulite. The caffeine in the coffee will make the skin cells "wake up".

EveR wonder what happens if you go for a clean diet and plenty of rest, a cleanse or fasting once in a while?? Is true the dark circles comes with age, but if you are sleeping at night, over 8 hrs, and drinking plenty of water, why is your face looking bad?? Cleanse , fast and rest plenty of exercise too, good luck, prep h is good too

Herbal based products works best comparatively to other chemical based products. If you add those products, it is better.

Black Pepper (optional)

I take 2 drops of honey and a little bit of coffee. Mix the 2 and put under your eye. After 5 min gently wash it off. Use a moisturizer under the eye after. Do it 3x a week. You can also add a little black pepper to help with the circulation in that area.

Over the years I have used several eye creams but dermalmd under eye treatment serum one stands out. The serum is easily absorbed and leaves the eye feeling smooth and moisturized. My dark circles also have become lighter.
